(C&C) Character Reference Sheets

Post by Kurgan »

Howdy,

Just looking for some clarification on this booklet. It says that it's 24 pages, but then says that there are 4x6 double-sided character sheets (which would actually be 48 pages). So, is it 24 unique character sheets (ie. if you detach 'em there'd be 24 pieces), or 24 total pages, with one type of sheet on one side, and another on the reverse (ie. 12 detachable sheets)? I've seen both styles used before, so wanted to be sure.

Oh, on a related note, when did the price go up on the screens? I'd read they were 14.95, and was planning on getting one, but now see that they're listed for 19.95.

Thanks.

Can't answer your questions regarding the sheets but the price for the CK Screen is $19.95

While it was in development, they had initially estimated the cost at $14.95 (if I'm not mistaken) but the price was changed to $19.95 prior to the release. However, they did decide to pack an adventure with the screen when the price changed.

If you haven't seen the screen, it is extremely durable and of high quality. Well worth the price IMO.

Its 4 character sheets each of the six different primes classes.

So, 4 Ranger/Fighter sheets, 4 Rogue/Assassin SHeets, etc, for a total of 24 sheets.

My only complaint is the perforation of the sheets. It sucks. Tearing one of them bad boys out of the book will generally rip the whole page out, perforated part included. Then when you try to get the perforated part off in a neat manner its a pain in the ass.

Hmm, the perforations in mine have been nice. Almost too easy to rip out though. Came out crisp and clean. I guess there is a lot of leeway for perfs during the manuafacturing process.

Hmmm. Maybe I just got a bum printing then. I'm serious, mine is so awful I was pretty pissed about it.

All three of the ones I tried were difficult to take the pages from; it worked best to fold the page back and forth, and then tear at the perforation. I'm glad I kept the fourth untouched, since some of the pages tore when I removed a couple. Also, did not make me want to play my normal style, since ripping out a new character sheet might mean spending more money on getting more... but, I'll just go back to lined college paper or engineer's graphing stuff.

Awesome. The BEST way to character sheet up IMO. The mark of a true player.

Xacto knives are my friend, they can be yours too.

I've had this perforation problem since the first goldenrod sets with 1E. So I put a metal or flat wooden ruler behind the perforation, then cut it with my Xacto knife. A utility knife would obviously work just as well, and I have used mine a few times too.

Which defeats the whole purpose of them being perforated in the first place.
I'd like them better if they were just loose sheets in a cover. No tearing or knife needed.

Thats been done too. I didn't like them that way either. I prefer the perforation, because like Omote said, sometimes they do the perforations right. Just when they don't you have to use the knives.

Like I bought two sets of the sheets. One set tears out perfect, the other I use the knife on. My set tears out fine about half way, then starts to tear badly. So I cut those.

I had a little trouble on the first time tear of the CSs and then realized I had to bend the sheet both ways like I do with bills or any perforated junk I get in the mail. It's mostly worked and one time I used a scissors which worked perfectly.

Enjoy!

I should say that sitting here with my CS folio, I too had to fold the perfs before ripping them out. I remember that much. Good point Rhu. Fold and tear!

Wiht my character sheets, even the fold and tear leaves it looking crappy.

If you dont fold and tear and pulls out the page all the way from the binding. NO biggie.

If you do fold and tear, it leaves a jagged almost saw-like edge all the way down the side, then you have to go back and pluck each little "tooth" individually.

I'm serious. Mine is the suck.

Listening to you guys seems that what I got is the exception, not the rule though.

Dude. Those perforations are a ghetto config. The sheets themselves are pretty fire though.

At the end of the run the blade making the perforation will dull. These get switched out, but often not quickly enough that a few copies will be "half-perf".

The CK screen does kick butt.
