Old Game

Does anyone remember a game for the original Nintendo called Nobunaga's Ambition?

It was a war game set in Feudal Japan, you could train armies, hire ninja's put down revolts, sign peace treaties, etc.

I loved the hell out of that game. Have they made any newer versions as time went on? Otherwise I may just track down an old nintendo and that game again.

Nobunaga's Ambition is a very long-running series with, I believe, at least ten sequels, most of which have never been published outside of Japan. I played the second english game in the series for the SNES and had a lot of fun having tea parties and building rifles. Eventually, I began to win large battles without taking a single casualty thanks to my enormous stockpiles of guns.

Loved it. Another good one was Ghengis Khan. I think it came out about the same time. I actually wish they still made games like that. The newer interfaces and flashier graphics of the new sim/strategy games all detracted from the gameplay to me.

And I hadn't even thought about Nobunaga's ambition until today when I was playing some PS2 game where NObunaga is the bad guy I guess and some sort of demon.

Now I want that damn game again!!!

Yeah I remember that game very well. As for sequels, there are many of them. As stated above, I also beleive that there are 10 or more sequels, but I'm not sure how many made it to America. I think some of the games were renamed in the US though.

Sheesh, for the life of me I can't remember the names of the games that game to the US. I know the last few were for PS2 about 3-4 years ago. There are probably even more recent versions that I'm just not aware of.

There out there DD, for sure.

Romance of the Three Kingdoms makes other versions pale. It is the definitive game of that genre, and there are, at least, 13 of them.

I totally forgot about Romance of the Three Kingdoms. That was awesome.

I see they have some PS2 versions of that one. Anyone know if they suck?

As for the Romance games for the PS1&2, I think they look awesome, but have never played. One of my good friends plays ever one that comes out and I can't get him to shut up about it. The Romance games (at least the PS1 and 2 versions) sound awesome... China though, not feudal Japan.

Wow, I hadn't read this thread and got to jonesing for that game last night. I downloaded a SNES emulator and obtained the 'Nobunaga's Ambition' last night and played it.

Not at ALL like I remembered it. I was bored. Be careful what you wish for...
