Pathfinder #2 is a home run!

Post by Treebore »

Hurry up and read it DD! Plus you haven't said if your going to make the Ravenloft Game! After reading this PAthfinder I bet you'll be itchin to play something like Ravenloft!

Wish I could have used this as a kind of lead in to Ravenloft. Maybe next year.

Those of you who haven't subscribed, this is an excellent "horror" adventure. Great mood, great set up, great threading of the plot strings, and just plain cool. The set up stuff from Pathfinder 1 just makes this part so much better too.

I think I have finally read an AP I am going to want to run.

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

I've only scanned through the PDF of #2 so far but yup, it looks incredibly good. I can't wait until I hold the actual print product in my hand so I can read through it all. Pathfinder easily ranks among some of the best RPG stuff being put out.

I posted it in the on-line forum, but it probably got lost in some of the other posts. I wont be able to make the game, my schedule did indeed get swapped up some and I'll be working tomorrow now.

I wonder when the promised official conversion to C&C is coming out?

Here's the official teaser from the product:
A sudden string of brutal killings terrorizes Sandpoint, and the killers mark bears a disturbing similarity to the strange rune the goblins in the previous adventure had taken as their tribal totem. Investigation leads the heroes to confront a sinister murderer who has claimed a notorious haunted mansion as his lair. Yet this murderer is one of many, a member of a group of killers who call themselves the Skinsaw Men and have adopted an ancient magic involving the seven deadly sins. The PCs must travel to the bustling city of Magnimar to unravel the truth behind the rune, but in so doing may become prime suspects in the killings themselves!

Yep, 50 pages of this issue is adventure, 10 pages are maps and descriptions of the City, 10 pages talk about a couple of the campaign specific gods and their religious organizations, I think 10 pages are on the new monsters, and the rest is lead in material, kind of an editorial, and preview of whats to come.

I really like how Paizo is doing this, and really like how they bring back people and events that happened or were met in the first issue.

I really think people will like this, and believe people who canceled after issue one are going to regret it.

Paizo is putting out some top-notch goods. The new issue of Pathfinder is indeed yummy.

I like their new modules as well. I thought their W1 module was fantastic, it has a nice sandbox approach with a timeline of events that keeps things moving along.

Yep, this is special stuff. I'm just about to start running the first issue, and was deeply impressed by this second release. I can't wait until the later issue (I think fourth) where the players get to storm the keep, and then have to run the damn thing. Should be lots of fun.

And I play online with Fantasy Grounds, so the artwork in the PDF is a boon. Great maps and NPC/monster portraits really make online play that much more enjoyable.

I couldn't agree more with this post, Pathfinder is a fantastic mod/adventure so far. As a C&C newbie I have had no problems adapting the rules from 3.5 to C&C and the players are having a great time playing in the campaign so far. Pathfinder #2 lokks to be an amazing follow up to a great #1. All I can say is that if you are looking to start a campaign Pathfinder is worth a look.

I'll add my praise of Pathfinder as well, I have #1 and really look forward to running it someday, I've scanned the PDF of #2, and it looks like more of the same.

One thing I plan to do, since level advancement is so much faster in 3E, I plan to award XPs based on the listed challenge ratings. So a goblin with a CR of 1/3 is worth 100xps far more than he would be worth btb in C&C. This will help keep the PCs more in line with the suggested levels for later adventures in the series.
