Several of the covers I am in love with. Issue 10 previews StarSIEGE, and I guess they are keeping that name despite the computer game version.
Sneak previews of Castle Zagyg, including maps and other surprises.
Still, the Thor fighting Jormangandr cover fricking rocks! Plus I am partial to number 9's cover, its runic.
The StarSIEGE issue cover looks good too.

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

I think PB linked these up in another forum about a month ago or so. Yeah, the covers are really cool. The StarSEIGE cover is very neato.

Yeah, I'm sure I'll be glad for ordering enough to get that 6 issue subscription just because of the covers. A number of the articles look real good too. Especially the stuff for Castle Zagyg and the Star SIEGE preview/intro.

I'm still waiting for Crusader to actually have content before I buy it. Gary telling stories of the good old days is nice, but it's not a magazine. They should be publishing monsters, adventures, class design guides, and stuff like that in Crusader.

Well, the Crusader has been moving in the right direction...
I guess things seem to have picked up since issue 4. There were several articles dealing with multi-classing in that one.
The last 3 issues have had their 'One Night Stands' which is basically a small scenario that can be used... and one of the last 2 issues had a section with new Cantrips.
The magazine seems to be improving a bit every issue but I do agree with what you're saying... more game specific content is always a good thing!
I guess that's part of the reason I'm exited about the Adventure Games Journal subscription. I love the detail and effort that James Mishler seems to be putting into the work.
I ended up getting a subscription (to the Crusader) as well due to the summer sale and some of the highlights in the upcoming issues should be nice.

Bill Webb of Necromancer Games wrote a couple of very cool one shot/night adventures in issue 5.

I have to say here too that the Crusader is getting more and more good content in it. There are a few too many fluff pieces, but the multiclassing issues and the critical hit articles really add value to the mag IMO.

They were good but I don't want to see the mag taken over by adventures. I'd rather see things like the Crit tables and new cantrips of the past issues rather than a good chunk of the mag being taken up with adventures.

I like the fiction since it adds to the Airhde setting history. Gives me stuff to have Bards know. Sages, etc...
I would love for Crusader to start doing its own series of monster ecologies, NPC personalities, etc...
Granted it may have been done before, but the vast majority of my Dragon collection burned several years ago.

Hardly. Two short adventures in 7 issues is relatively minor. If fact I'd like to see more. I think the point is that the Trolls have done a good job mixing it up and I hope to see this continue.

I wasn't talking about those. What I was talking about was loosing page count in each issue to large Dungeon style adventures. I'd rather see a seperate mag or a special issue for that.

Hmm, did I miss something? There haven't been any large dungeon style adventures in the Crusader at all.

I think he meant losing page count to large dungeon adventures in the Crusader *if* they started to do that. Obviously, this could negatively impact on other material that could get in the magazine.

Bingo! I think the Crusader should be more of a showcase for expansions on the rules, minigames and other things. Much like Dragon was for (A)D&D back in the day. I'm not saying mimic it to the 'T' but the format was popular in it's time.

Steve's still experimenting around with a proper balance methinks. So the magazine content will probably be ... eclectic ... for a while.

I'm hardly complaining. I actually subscribed for the first time yesterday after I determined that the more recent issues (4-7) are leaning toward something more amenable to me.

Whatever happens they need to keep the "angry gamer" and there needs to be more articles by 'The Penguin'.
