Heh, and here I was gonna say that the cover had 2 characters from The Lord of the Rings on it.

Naw. I was looking at my Mystara and Gazetteers last night. It looks very much like them.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

I agree. The usefulness of separate maps for actual gaming cannot be overstated.

The fact that players' maps are not included in the Wilderlands box set is one of my (very) few criticisms of it.

I saw this deal in the local bookshops over the weekend that was a thick, 200 + page hardback compilation of low level adventures from Goodman. Neat idea. ^_^ ...

I think you're confused Peter. The Gazetteer is not coming out until September.

Judging from your comment, I think that you are referring to this:

The Gazetteer is this product:

However, both look cool! 8)

I wasn't confused. My statement wasnt referting to the Gazetteer. I was refering to a 'compilation of low level adventures in hardback.' The Gazetteer is a boxed set. Im not as confused as I really am ya know?

The 'Elizabethan' Blackadder is the model that I use for one of my favourite recurring high-level NPCs. (I even use his picture to show the players when they interact with the NPC.)

And he has a rather foul smelling half-orc assistant who keeps coming up with "cunning plans"!

LOL, the half-orc doesn't put underpants on his head and pencils in his nose when his boss sends him on dangerous missions does he?

Meanwhile you can find these on ebay for about $70. And considering the amount of stuff in that box, that's absolutely okay.

As I mentioned in the "What Gaming Stuff are you reading right now" thread, I cracked open some DCC World. The gaming group had been doing some discussion on the subject and might run a few adventures there soon, or start a new mega-campaign here in the future.

I love how BIG the world is. Gives the GM a lot of "wiggle-room."

Omote speaks for me. A TON of wiggle room. But more adventure hooks than you can sneeze at. The problem becomes keeping the PCs on track.

Ha! You are so right. As a GM who runs more free-form games, the PCs tend to get off track pretty easily, and I can see this being a problem in DCC World if adventure hooks keep getting thrown out there. Good call.

Is this a d20 product or is it system neutral?

D20, for sure. I would love to see a Castles & Crusades version, I have to admit.

Definitely d20. Pretty sure for D&D 3.5.

But, with C&C, conversion is a snap! I agree, seeing this in a C&C format would be downright cool!

I noted that unlike the other DCC's, the Gazetteer has no d20 logo on it in the top right-hand corner. Hmm. ???

Interesting, but not necessarily any indication that it doesn't contain D20 material (I could be wrong, but I don't think the logo is mandatory). I know there are a couple of D20 Adventure Modules included, but I would love to know the truth with regards to the Gazetteer and GM's Guide, though... Omote?

Yes, it does. Plus it is definitely written for the d20 crowd, but still, like most settings, most of the material is fluff and very little rules, and for C&C that little bit of rules is easy to use.

I didn't mean to imply that there was NO d20, but I do know the d20 logo is mandatory on d20 products. So, I was thinking the addies are d20 but the Gaz itself is fluffy like an omelet.

My group has been using the DCC 35 setting for a while now in our C&C game and it's gone swimmingly. A very nice product.

I used it for my previous C&C Campaign it worked out very nicely.

It's also really easy to import classic D&D modules into. We had alot of fun with the Campaign. Wrapped it up early due to player changes. Now we are doing C&C Wilderlands.

The d20 information in DCC#35 Known Realms pertains to a few new spells, to 0-level characters, a few weapons and equipment, and about 20 or so monsters. I would say that 70% of this box set has no d20 anything in it. Matter of fact the gods sections, really have no d20 to them either 9which is surprising for a d20 product).

If you can find this box set at discount, I would say that the price is worthy if you want a whole setting/world to play in... even with the d20 stuff, 70% is not bad.
