Two Boxes of Awesome

My parents gave me a bunch of boxes of my old stuff to go through a few weeks ago. As I'm sorting through the debris of keep and go books, I found two boxes that contain all my old Dragon magazines. All pre 3e. All glorious.

As I go through them, I'm continually amazed at the quality of the work.

I also found the issue with one of my favorite optional weapons - the Dwarven Warclub. For some reason, the weapon really caught on with me. For one, it was a great alternative to the hammer and axe paradigm. And it's a big honking, iron-studded club! But not some crude orc-crafted mess. No, these were respectfully carved, adorned with images of the clan's history and ancestors - works of art and craftsmanship.

It's also a sad reminder of what is no more... But these are going to be such a treasure trove of goodness that can be used with C&C.

I with you on that one. I have kept all my old Dragon magazines despite my wife's insistance to throw them out. Once I have time, I plan raiding them for ideas to use for C&C.

I only own one Dragon magazine in physical form, that being the one so kindly gifted to me by a fellow forum-goer calling himself BeyondTheBreach, but I do agree they have some very good, and neat, things in them. So, I am thankful that I have the Archive. Much less space. :) I need the space.

All your doing is make me mourn, yet again, the loss of my Dungeon and Dragon mag collection in my 2003 house fire.

Issue 3 of Dungeon onward, issue 62 of Dragon, onward, with about a dozen of random earlier issues. All gone.
Yeah, I am jealous of your find.

You betcha!! It's a new one that he just put the finishing touches on last week! I feel sorry for the monster on the receiving end of that thing - a +5 ogre/giant smasher!!

Kudos on your find of old good stuff.

I was lamenting to Harry Joy just the other day how much I really miss Dragon Magazine! Something about the anticipation when I'd go out to my mailbox "would it be today, would my Dragon be there today?!" alas tis gone. I've enjoyed the few issues of Crusader that I've received, but it's yet to achieve a regular release schedule. Oh well.

A shame such a formidable beast as a Dragon was slain in the deep Dungeon through the roll of naught but a Polyhedron, yet there was an Amazing Story to tell, and much loot to be had by the White Dwarf.

Oh well, enough magazine puns. Glad you found something to walk the timeline of yesterday.
