My dice, sit silent

Ice descends on roads and cars

My team stays at home.

Yea, it's getting icy all over the Kansas City area.

We cancelled church and I doubt my friend will be coming over in the afternonon for talk and light C&C play.

I had to work the Cub Scout tree lot in all that ice yesterday.

You live in the KC area? So do I!

We got half a foot of snow or so friday night, and my group plays saturday morning, but we all made it. We are like the postal service when it comes to gaming.

Wolfpunk, snow is a different animal than ice. Church doesn't get cancelled for the white stuff. I don't know what the forcast is but icy conditions are not pleasant.

I've noticed lots of gamers that post on the various forums I go to reside round the Kansas-Missouri rivers area.

Snow is nothing but here we get more ice than that. Ice is a terrible thing here. Charlierock may remember last years ice storm. Though I think those of us in SW Missouri got hit a bit worse.

As for this year it seems like the north part of the state is getting hit worse on this one. Though the day isn't over and night isn't here yet. I'm right on the line of this one and I have seen more rain than ice but I have ice forming on trees and other areas. I'm hoping it misses us this time.

Three guys all in KC area so far. (JediOre, I talked to you some in the GGames forum).

The biggest ice storm I can remember is the one in '02 that knocked out power all over the city for like two weeks. Actually I had a blast that year.

You are correct. If I remember right you also stop by A to Z Comics in Blue Springs. Debbie is a peach.

2002? Has it been that long ago? It was horrible, we lost power for a solid week. Many of my fish died. I recall having my little fellas in mason jars at my parent's home near the wood burning stove until I could get my tank moved and the water heated.

Icy here today and yesterday. Thank goodness the salt trucks were out in force. I went through a half bag of salt for my driveway and side walk between yesterday and today. My gutters are frozen solid. I had to throw some salt up at the downspouts.

But the home made chili is almost ready and then a NOG and continue to decorate the ole Christmas tree.

BTW, that home made Nog my wife made during our game this past Monday was great, especially with a splash of gold rum.

That's kind of a blessing with the price of gas and all.

Beans and cornbread here and maybe spiced cider. My tree lights have went AWOL.

Debbie is a goddess amongst game/comic store owners. Very nice lady. I've known her for, what...20 years now. Wow!

So does anybody have a C&C game going in the KC area?

My family was out of power for 13 days.
We went to a nearby church where they had a shelter. They lost power. Went to my folks' friends' house. They lost power. Had to get a generator from the friends' glass shop at 3 am so we could have heat. My youngest boy was just a baby, and my oldest was only 5 at the time. Spent a few days in a hotel then spent a week with my folks. I've only had one other ice storm, sometime in the 80's, knock us out bad. Nothing was like the ice storm of 2002. It was awful.

I know a lot of guys who go to A to Z and I've been there a few times. Debbie is very nice.
But, I'm mostly a Tabletop guy (sometimes Warzone). It's just over the line in KS and those are both larger with regard to wargame selection.

To think we suffered through mid-upper 80's here in South Texas this weekend. This is the time of year that reminds me why I moved here from the land a cheese.

I used to live near Wichita Falls,TX. I remember the Hotter Than Hell Hundred summers. Eighty degrees? Yeah, as long as it's four in the morning.

Damnit! It refuses to snow here. It thinks about it, tries, and then decides its just not the right time of year. Nope. Autumn is better than winter for the good white stuff.

Fixed it for me.

Man, I love Memphis. Always have and likely always will, but one thing we don't get in any quantity at all is snow. That will forever be one of the things I miss about living in Milwaukee. Even after five years there, I still got giddy whenever the snowflakes started coming down, which was usually around the first week of November, every year.

OK, so the blizzard we had the winter before I left wasn't so much fun, but at least, after ten years living in Illinois and Wisconsin, I finally got to see one before I moved home.

Good news is last night the C&C team managed to get together. (The C&C team is exactly the same as the D&D3 team minus two people).

Bad news is the power went out. We found a few candles and one flashlight. Not enough to read but enough to see cards. So we played CarWars: the Card Game.
I lost. A lot.

In 2007 crackheads going commando were sent to prison by a military court instead of being commited. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else is around, and God help you if you find them, maybe you can hire the C-Team.

Sorry to all you folks affected.

I flew through Seattle a few years ago just after they had one (and it isn't a common occurence on this coast). Amazing to see tree after tree, pine, oak, whatever, just left as a tall stump because all the branches had broken off.
