Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles

Anyone catch this?

I watched the pilot and was very pleasantly surprised at how well done it was. I think they did a great job with the show. The actors, IMO did a great job. The look, feel and intensity are as good as you can do - falling within the limits of what they can show on TV.

Considering the time travel parallax and other material not explicitly covered in the movies, there may be lots of potential stories/episodes etc. that could be great to see.

Hopefully it will continue to be good.

I was supposed to record this but somehow my VCR messed up and missed it. I'm hoping to catch the opening on one of Fox's special repeat nights.

Yeah, I missed the opening segments and went to Fox's website to see if they carry the episode on video like The Bionic Women where I watched a few missed shows.

Fox doesn't do this or may do it going forward. But, they do have recaps and video snippets, if you want to check it out.

Meh. The first epsiode was prety bad IMO, with the exception of the last 5-10 minutes. The second epsiode was much better. Shows like this need to learn from the new Battlestar Galactica. Love it or hate it, new BSG kicked energy into having a good, successful sci-fi TV show.

For Terminator to be a successful, good show it will need to take chances. Push the storyline, and don't just rehash the same Terminator junk we've been seeing for 24 years.

The show has a chance to be good. The first epsiode was rough, but the end of the first and the second showed real promise. Here's hoping.

I caught them both, and was pretty pleased. With the first episode, I was really wondering how they were going to make it work in a series, but as of the second episode, I begin to understand.

I like the idea of the war for the future being some sort of temporal cloak and dagger war, with moves and counter-moves staged throughout time, rather than the giant explosive events that have been seen in the movies. The characters also have room to develop.

Kind of surprised me that it was that nutchick from Firefly working on that show. Pretty neat. Her acting in that role was great but pretty limited in scope. Not to mention duration (to everyone's loss).

Wow- you're right, it's Summer Glau. I knew she looked familiar somehow...

I caught both episodes and was also pleasantly surprised. It feels like a show I would enjoy watching in massive blocks on DVD. Unfortunately, it airs on the already-crowded Monday nights when I teach. I'm finally kind of happy that there is a writers strike keeping new content off the air. Mondays are just brutal on my VCRs.

Heh, I for one will be much happier when they put Summer Glau back with the rest of the cast and continue Firefly.

Hey, with the fan base movement of both Firefly and Dresden Files working like they are, I suspect it'll be very soon.

Serenity was put out because of the actions of the fans.

I'm sure there is some TV station somewhere who's got the face to put on something quality on TV for once.^_^

Frankly, I'm surprised that Firefly/Serenity wasn't sold to Sci-Fi, or at least attempted with the rabid fan base. Fox won't put Firefly back on (probably, with the writer's strke you never know), but the series could continue on Sci-Fi network. The only problem would be that the budget would be slahsed beyond belief. That alone might a be a reason why it was never sold off.

Hmm.

Fox owns the rights to Firefly for 10 years..maybe 8-9 now remaining. So I'd be surprised if it was ever sold in that time. I can hope though

Fox could (as I understand it) sell that property off at any time. The problem might be getting Nathan Fillion back in the lead role, for a much reduced pay.

If it was anything like the movie, then I am rather glad to not see it.

Serenity. I've not seen anything on this new Terminator thing, but, seeing as I only liked the original movie (both sequels were boring to me), and that is stale to my mind these days, I would have to know its got something new... at least it might be stealable for a PA game. Always thought a Terminator-based RPG might be fun.

Incidentally, is it me or do you think they might be hanging the possible "relationship" or "chemistry" thing between John and his protector. She is after all a serious advanced cyborg who can eat potato chips!!
Maybe she can do other things too. Don't forget this is FOX.

Me too, actually. Considering that Battlestar Galactica has high production quality, i don't see why Firefly couldn't if it continued on Sci-Fi. And BG has only one more season to clear up the budget costs.

It showed on the Sci Fi channel as an all day marathon a couple of times.

Wasn't a big budget series or movie to begin with. ^_^

The one thing I found amusing about Terminator 3 was the way it completely undid the premise/theme of the first two movies. I'm glad the series takes place before the movie.

As for Serenity, I thought it was a good movie, but it wasn't as good or amusing as Firefly. However, I'm glad that the movie happened to bring some closure to the series.

There are two more Serenity movies written and optioned so I understand.

Well, I'm dubious when it comes to Sci-Fi channel productions and their lifespans to begin with. Then again, that might be related with how they handled Farscape.

Evidently sales of the last movie on DVD are doing well enough to pay for a new movie.

The show is incredibly popular, the Serenity RPG sells like smoke. Already going into a 5th printing.

I was also pleasantly surprised by the new Sarah CC . My wife enjoyed them as well and she hated terminator. I am huge fan of Serentity and my sides still hurt from laughing. I would love to see Firefly and Dresden back.

You can option the hell out of a movie, unfortunately that doesn't mean they'll get made. A shame, I hear ya.

When a top sci fi movie poll puts Serenity as #1 and beats out Star Wars, its a sure bet that more Serenity will be made. ^_^
