I'm starting to agree with CharlieRock. I don't care if Crusader goes monthly or bimonthly, as long as it becomes regular. I also like his "Castles" magazine idea.

I realize starting a second and running two mags is a tall order, but I figure we're making wish lists where money and production costs are no obstacle.

I do like the notion of a 'Castles' magazine. But then again, if the Crusader goes monthly and has a regular adventure feature (or two), one mag will be enough. Hell, with the contest I found out about (which I posted in another thread), it may be that they're going towards an adventure in every issue kind of idea. I guess we'll have to see.

Well as long as we're mentioning TOP-5s, I'd like to see:

1.) Basic C&C Box Set

2.) Castle Zagyg Box Sets

3.) Monsters & Treasures II

4.) Adventurer's Backpack

5.) More East Mark!

I really do find this irritating; the CKG is starting to be a product I'm likely going to write off of my 'think about list'.

Really, really not good.

We are in the final stretch of drafting the mss. for The Upper Works, and I am pleased to say it is coming together quite nicely. Future boxed sets beyond the Upper Works should be produced more quickly, as I've gotten my sea-legs, so to speak, learning the ropes from the Father of the Game, and generally becoming more efficient at the entire process along the way (or so I hope!). I'm honored and grateful to be where I am, working on this fantastic adventure with the grandmaster of RPG design, no less, and I hope folks enjoy playing as much as I'm enjoying co-developing it.

Great news, Jeff, thanks!

I am myself concerned about Troll Lord Games' future, whatever may be its plans with products. With the big economic crisis at the doorstep for 2008, I have some fears for my preferred small publishers. I don't care too much for the grandiose WotC plans for 4e, when they think they will sell endless new books and digital fees for their new marketing scheme. However, I don't want to see Troll Lords Games (and also Green Ronin Publishing) disappear in the storm...

WotC's plans for 4e will have nothing but positive effect for us.

I personally think that TLG is wasting its time with these SIEGE boxed sets... who really wants to play some insane man's twisted version of the SIEGE Engine set in a sci-fi world?

Jim Ward comes on board! Let's see what this guy can do with the Crusader, because frankly the Crusader deserves more then just 3-4 issues per year at best.

So Jim ward is coming on board? All we need now is Mentzer and we have some of the most influental people that made the game what it is.

I think Frank has enough on his hands with his bakery endeavors.... and after tasting his handiwork at Winterdark I would have to say I would be torn to have to decide whether to read an RPG offering from him or be able to enjoy one of his delectables!

As I said above, I'm thrilled that Ward is onboard. But, to add my two cents regarding diversification of the C&C line, I for one can't wait for the new SIEGE sets. Every time I take a look at other genres, I wish they had ready-made rules adaptations for them to be played in C&C.

More and more, I'm coming to love the simplicity of design and adaptability of the SIEGE system. To be able to use it for Modern play, or Sci-Fi, Pulp, or whatever, would be awesome.

Congrats to the Trolls and Jim Ward.

Jim is a very witty, intelligent and all around great guy. His experience and knowledge can only be helpful to the magazine and bring it to the next level. I serious look forward to the future of The Crusader

Bring it.

Well done!

I'm scrambling now trying to get all the files to Jim for 8. We are also welcoming Liz Stewart on board as the new layout person for Crusader. She'll be working with Jim quite a bit.

The Siege games are going to rock.

We can add Mike's "Victorious" to it, a victorian super hero game in the same mix with League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

Trollzah!

It looks like TLG is getting the staffing situation worked out. That's always great news as it means less for the Stever to do.

The release schedule seems rather random - announcements are made and are not kept, and I don't know about new PDF products until they magically show up at RPGnow - they aren't evening announced on the main website.

Storm Queen,

All very good points, many of which I hoped I addressed in my blog post of tuesday. If not please post what I didn't here and I'll do my best.

But your critique of the PDF releases is correct and I really hadn't thought about it. With no guidelines to follow these PDFs arrive when I have them ready. Ideally they would release when the print product is released. But many won't see print.

I'll keep this in mind and come up with some type of internal schedule for these items.

Sadly, I'm slow to embrace this *new* eletronic stuff.

Hi Steve,

Your blog addressed most of my issues (outlining your release strategy/staffing).

Thanks for also addressing PDF releases and thinking about future strategies, and for making an effort to focus on one thing at a time!

One suggestion is that you could do PDF previews of new products or of PDF-only releases, on a regular basis.

I guess the only bottleneck you have with this set-up is the layout side of things - I understand that, for example, this held back the Cult of Yex stuff because you wanted to get the CZ town expansions rolling?

Thanks for being attentive.
