Yes, but truncated. Besides, not too many C&Cers know that module cover.

Ok - finally arrived and I've only had a very brief amount of time to look it over. Let me preface my comments about what's missing by saying the product is awesome - really captures the DMG random dungeon feel while adding some more sense to the system.

But there's some stuff I am missing that will still need the DMG to supply.

1. Moss growth direction chart. Just kidding.

2. Stairs! Where are the stairs? Am I missing something? Yes, slopes are indicated for some passages, of varying degree even, but no stairs? Maybe just adding a sub-table for 8A to determine the type of slope if present would solve this - slope, chimney, stairs, trap door, etc.

3. Chance for streams/rivers/lakes. Another thing I loved in the original was the chance to come across some water obstacle - try to cross? Try to navigate up/down stream? Good stuff. I'll have to work it in somehow. Again, a sub-table or addition to 8B might solve this one - chance of whatever is rolled being filled with water/other liquid.

That's pretty much it on first glance. Nice work serl! I love the expanded torture device table (you're a sick person) and the added detail for types of traps. Good stuff. The who/what and why are excellent too.

I'll get back to reading now. If I missed something that I said was missing please correct me!

I assumed stairs would be added wherever the CK decided they would make sense to be, based on "entrances / exits" but, a random table for them might have been nice - I'll have to come up with some web enhancement for it (and moss growth, of course.) I also assumed the "pool" thing would be used for rivers/streams as there is a mention somewhere in there about using it for passageways of its own... but, that might not have been spelled out in a way that was sensible. I tried hard to get everything vital, but its possible I missed some stuff... please continue to let me know so I can make better products in the future.

Glad to hear people like the stuff... and, yes, I am sick. At least I stopped at 100. You don't want to see the "litter charts" I was working on...

That's cool - like I said, I've only had limited time with the book (why does shipping from Arkansas take so long?). Guess I missed the pool-as-passageway thing. Looking forward to reading the rest and starting to generate some nasty dungeons for the kids to explore.

Heh, I'd like to see what comes of that.

Oh, and before, I forgot to say something about aquatic dungeons... that's entirely "river/stream." But, I get what you mean. I'll look over the stuff - its been a while since I have and see what I can do.

Ooh - I forgot to mention - the encounter tables were a completely unexpected bonus! Good for below AND above ground. Nice stuff.

I think an awesome web enhancement or inclusion in a future edition would be to add additional randomization columns to the various tables for each dungeon purpose. For instance, the book says that prisons are riddled with traps. However, rolling on table 9 will give the same chance for traps regardless of the dungeon purpose. It would be cool if there was a d20 roll column for each type of dungeon so that a prison would indeed have more traps than other types.

I toyed with the idea of providing "circumstantial modifiers" based on various aspects of the dungeon (ie, if type = A, apply B to C, D, and E) but decided, in the end, a Castle Keeper should have a rough idea of what he's doing... and not rely on the tables for everything (it can build dungeons from nothing, but it can also help with details of existing ones, as well.) This is what the descriptions were for, to give some idea, but not a mandatory, concrete one. Otherwise, I agree that it can be useful, and I'll consider it in a web expansion which will be posted to my site when its finished, and, hopefully, on the TLG site as well.

Thanks for all the input. I do hope the product proves useful.

I would love to see any dungeons that come out from using this, as well.

Aargh! My FLGS went out of business this week and didn't fill my order for "Engineering Dungeons." Now I have to start my order from scratch. I think I'm just going to order all of my TLG products from the source from now on. It seems like going through a FLGS takes longer even when the store doesn't go out of business. (Plus, the 2 other game stores in my area are a long way from my house and office.)

Serl, I just picked this up from my FLGS on Saturday. Good stuff. I gave it a quick read and I like what I see. I look forward to the web enhancement. Especially so I'll know where all the minor insects will be, based on the moss growth table.

I'll be digging into it again for a more concentrated look later this week.

I wish I knew, but I don't. Personally, as long as people buy it, like it, and use it, I don't care what format it takes.

Sure it is useful.

I'll have to use for my group.

I just rolled a few rooms without real purpose for my review, I really want to try to create a nice and well done dungeon. The hardest will be to provide you with a map, but otherwise, I'll try to finish it.
