SuperBowl XLII

Post by Rigon »

What a great defensive game. Made all the more sweet since the Patriots lost. However, Eli Manning in no way, shape, or form deserved to be the MVP. It should have gone to a defensive player, such as defensive end Justin Tuck (two sacks, six tackles, one forced fumble). That Giants D whopped up on Brady.

I agree Manning wasn't worthy of the MVP but, what can you do? All in all great game and seeing the Patriot juggernaut squashed in the end made it worth watching. Even if the commercials sucked and there was no Bud Bowl (again).

I have to agree with you, JG. However the Fedex commercial with the pigoens was hilarious.

I liked the Doritos one with the guy getting his butt kicked by the "giant mouse".

I agree that Eli didn't deserve MVP. It should have gone to the Giants' D-line. Awesome. Unstoppable. Put my Pats on their heels for the whole game. Congrats to the Giants, for they deserved the win.

I agree the D-line was the key to the game, but since the whole line played great, it would have been hard to single one limeman out, so I see no problem with Eli getting the MVP. He did play a very good game, and his avoiding the sack and downfield pass and catch to Tyree(sp?) was the play of the game.

I have to disagree with that last part Maliki. The play of the game was Jay Alford's sack at the end of the game. That was one brutal hit.

Tynes gets my MVP vote for that amazing 3rd down catch in the 4th to keep the Giants moving along. MVP right there.

I'm now officially a Giants fan until the 2008-09 season starts! I loved seeing the Patriots perfect season go "POOF!". It was a great defensive game on both sides, but the Giants really did put the heat on Brady the whole night.

MVP? Like you guys said, probably the D-line. But, Eli did have two TD drives in the Fourth QTR - the last one to win the game with 30 some seconds left in the game.

Thank you Giants!!

As for commercials, I don't know. I thought most of this years commericials were pretty lame. I guess I'd have to go with the "squirrel" commericial (I think it was for a car company, can't remember now). Or the baby talking about stocks, then burping up formula.

Is it just me or did Belicheck look like a sore loser stamping off the field early? Man he looked dazed in the after game interview.

Same here, I got so sick of hearing about how great the Patriots were, (I think it started back about April), I've been looking for someone to take them down, thanks Giants.

I was neutral until I learned that Junior Seau now plays for the Pats. I hated him when he was a Charger, so it was nice to have something tip the balance of my apathy.

I'm just amazed at how many people were predicting a blow-out. The Patriots did not finish the season anywhere near as strong as they started. They also had a number of games where they were a bit lucky to get the win (I remember some hail-mary passes to Randy Moss that could easily have been intercepted toward the end of the regular season). Not to mention the Giants played them very close in week 17 and the Giants have been on a hot streak ever since. I thought the Pats would probably win, but I expected a close game.

My favorite prediction came from Mike Ditka during a pregame show yesterday. Ditka predicted the Giants would win. This exchange followed:

Announcer: Based on what?

Ditka: Based on I'm an expert.

I loved that!

Classic! Ditka is always hilarious. (remember that old SNL parody of 'Da Bears' - probably c. 1986-1988? It had George Wendt in it, IIRC)

That was more like 1990-1992, I think. Chris Farley was a staple of those sketches and I don't think he joined the cast until 1990 or so.

Belicheck stinks. He's a farging cheater, and so are some of his players (who have that reputation across the league). Why is this man coach of the year?! The Pats... stink and I'm glad they lost.

I am so glad Marsha Brady's team lost. The only thing that could make me happier is if WOTC bet their entire 4e budget on the Pats.

I enjoyed Super Bowl 62 ~ it was quite enjoyable. I didn't care who won, but just wanted to see the Giants give the Pats a good game. And yeah they sure did!!

Well done, Giants!

I hope I'll be around for it ~ Bears over the Patriots (like 85/86) but this time by a larger margin!!
