Farewell Gary

I had the privilege of meeting Gary only once, at GenCon Indy last year. I came to the Troll Lords booth to check out Castle Zagyg, found C&C and waited in a long line to have Gary autograph my copy of the Town Halls (I had purchased Yggsburg the day before, and came back to pick up the rest of the CZ materials). Gary was incredible, friendly, taking a moment to talk to everyone, pictures, and share a laugh. When I was up, I thanked him for the countless hours of fun that he was key in delivering to myself and my friends.
Probably the most important thing I learned from Gary through his writings and published materials is, take what is published with a grain of salt, use what you will, ignore what you want, use the rules, but don't let them rule you, but most of all, most importantly, HAVE FUN!!! I can think of no greater tribute than to continue this, continue to mark up the purchased modules with my own thoughts and notes, even with, especially with the autographed material I have. I think I will gather some old friends and break out my old White Box set, and B2 The keep on the Borderlands and wax nostalgic.
It is strange, but it oft takes moments like this to open our eyes to many truths. For me in this case it is to reflect on my past and realize what an impact this hobby has been in my life. Spurring the imagination, finding a balance, looking for truth, and enjoying life are but a few of the lessons I learned through the game. I am confident that I would not be the person I am today without the inspiration I received through Gary's works. Thank you Gary.
To Gary's friends and family, I mourn with you for your loss. Know that Gary touched so many of our lives in profound ways. My prayers are with you all.
Gary, you will be missed, but every time we sit to play, you will live on.
Scott
