Gary Gygax and the message boards

Post by robertsconley »

Given the extensive, and interesting, messages left by the late Mr. Gygax Perhaps it would be a good idea for a team to visit the various message boards and collect all of his posts. Then put them together in a coherent form. Perhaps even a book form with the proceeds donated to charity.

Considering that databases get corrupted this may be good idea for history.

I'm a professional published writer and editor, I would love to offer my help.

It would be a great idea.

While I threw the idea out there I don't have the time to do this right. So if you (or other folks) want to organize the team then by all means do so. I also posted on the Legendary Adventures Forum at http://www.dragonsfoot.org.

One other suggestion is that the post should be complied multiple ways. Paritculary by Subject. Also I would point out the various Richard Feynmann books as a good example of a book comprised of a famous persons anecdotes and stories. (i.e. "Surely you are joking Dr. Feynmann")

Egads... Gary was pretty darned prolific on the internets. Some 5000 posts at ENWorld alone, almost 4000 on Dragonsfoot, his activity here, lord knows where else...

The man was far more "plugged in" than I've ever been.

I think this an excellent idea! TLG will be glad to host whatever bandwidth necessary to post it etc etc

Maybe it could be organized in a wiki.

229 posts here.

289 posts here.

That's all I can add for now.

Dragonsfoot has started compiling their Q&A threads. It'd be nice if all of the sites could get together on this.

I put off asking Lord Pladoh any questions because I couldn't really think of one. All the good ones were taken. It seemed. Now, I should have given more thought to it and asked something.
