I will be running a game on Wednesday at the RAM Restaurant for KFG Wednesday Gaming. It will be an adventure for 5-7th level groups.

I hope to add a couple more sessions throughout the day.

If I go, which is unlikely unless I get a lot of money soon, it would be to go to the auction and see the new stuff released. Never had any luck finding games I was interested in playing... sad, really.

You should definately come play, FDG.

I have this model of a Dark Citadel I use for the final confrontation....You should have seen it at MavenCon...glorious I tell ya....

Hope to have it at GC this year...yep...looked good...

I will be at GenCon Indy.

I do have a question, though...will TLG have a booth there, perhaps combined with another company (Goodman Games comes to mind), and if so, will there be enough space to set up a demo area?

I have an 'idear' for it, if it is available...

TLG usually has it's own booth. Demo area... well, in the past 3 years there really hasn't been that much room. I remember trying to play a game of Adventurer with KB... it was um, cozy.

Demos on Wednesday

Posted: Tue Mar 18, 2008 6:24 pm
by Hawkwinter
If Troll Lords is interested in offering demos on Wednesday 13 August 08 (Wednesday before GC), the KFG (Kentucky Fried Gamers) are helping to organize free Wednesday gaming in cooperation with GC. We have a number of different games and systems being offered at the RAM restaurant and in the surrounding hotels (Location TBD). If you guys were interested in getting some space for demoing some TL product, please let me know.

Thanks.

My only issue personally with Wednesday night gaming is one of my friends is actually getting married at GenCon, and I need to attend that.
In addition, I've GMed the entire convention before for RPGA and for Shadowrun, but I have an idea for running an ongoing demo game with rotating GMs. I want the game set up to advertise C&C. It's just so much easier to set up a demo game near the booth to get people interested in purchasing the game, vs having it the in the normal gaming area and having no walk-by traffic.

Hawkwinter if you run a game during the normal con hours I'd be interested. It would be cool if TLG ran some organized games.

If I make it to GenCon you can bet there will be some C&C games going! On top of the ones already mentioned. I think having a C&C game ran right there at the booth would be a great idea, but room has definitely been an issue in the past, just for displaying the product!

Yeah, but the great part is that KFG Gaming runs ALL DAY...from 9:00AM right on up till they make us stop. Game for awhile, go to a wedding, come back and game....lol.

Seriously...good luck to the couple, and have fun!!

I may submit a C&C event during the regular con hours, it will be tough as space is limited this year, but I'm considering it.

Todd may be running an official C&C game again this year, Ill ask him and Steve at our next game session or maybe Steve will see this post and let you know. I hope to see more of you guys there this upcoming year at the booth. I might run something, time permitting. I wouldnt mind getting in on a game. If Case Christofferson shows up this year you guys need to talk him into running a game. His are excellent as are Todd's if you can find an open slot.

That is the tough thing to do for sure. You know how these "off-the-cuff" games are? One minute nobody is running a game, the next minute 2 guys are running a game... and you have to be lucky enough to be around when it's announced.

BUT, I think this year at GenCon it's going to be easier. I just have a feeling that more C&C is going to be played this year then in previous years. Just a gut feeling though.

Very true on all counts. I too have a feeling that C&C will be a bit more prevalent at this years Gen Con. I hope so, anyway.

Well, I'm going to make sure and do my part. I plan to demo about 3 times on Wednesday and hand out Troll Lord's booth number to all my players and to all KFG Wednesday attendees. Last year we had a great turnout and I expect an exponential increase based off the traffic on the GenCon forums about us. I want everybody to be rabidly awaiting the Exhibit Hall's opening on Thursday...TLG booth number in hand

OH GAWDS! Just as long as companies are not giving away GenCon exclusives this year in limited numbers. I cannot beleive how many people got trampled last year for 'F'ing Talisman!

The mad rush needs to be mad tempered.

Yeah, I've always said the exhibitors should give away their exclusive stuff based off the ticket numbers of people, thus keeping it random and making it unnecessary for people to get trampled Thursday at 11:00AM.

Don't forget...Event submission ends on Mar 31st, so if you want to get those C&C events in, better hurry.

Apparently not, I just checked the event listing and there's nothing. Looks like Hawkwinter's Wednesday game is going to have to tide me over for Gen Con unless some of us get a pick up game going one night.

Huh. That kinda stinks. Guess all the C&Cers wanted to play in somebody else's game. The open C&C games will have to rule the con then.

Yep, I'm running first thing Wednesday morning at the RAM restaurant. In the Slumber of the Serpent...a module for 6 pre-gen'd 5-6th level characters.

If anyone is interested in running a C&C or Star Siege game on the Wenesday before GenCon, please contact Fat Dragon Games or me (Hawkwinter), and we'll see about getting you a table for KFG Wednesday Gaming.

PIck-up game wise...I'm gonna come pester you at the booth as much as possible Tom.

I'd like to add that FDG will be providing free swag for all players in the C&C game in addition to the random stuff we give out throughout the day on Wednesday.

Hi guys,

I don't want to speak out of place here, but I'm not so sure that all of the events that have been submitted to Gen Con Admin have been approved or listed in the official event database, yet.

Keep in mind that the event submission and approval process changed this year, with GC Admin reviewing and approving the submissions (and then assigning their actual, physical location for the event slot) in three 'flights' or cycles, based upon sumission date. The first event submission cycle was Feb 3 Feb 25. The second event submission cycle was Feb 26 March 17. The third event submission cycle was March 18 March 31.

According to the event submission information sent out in late January to prior year DM's & GM's and event sponsors, GC Admin was going to review, consider, approve (or reject) and assign the location for all events submitted in the first cycle before beginning on the second and third flights. So, if a particular event wasn't sumitted early, it is possible that it is still awaiting consideration and approval by GC Admin.

Also bear in mind that, at least in previous years, there was a surge in the number of events submitted right before the end of the event submission period. So much so that a lot of events didn't get approved until right before the event registration went live. This may be somewhat dampened this year, with the changes to the process, but I would expect that there were a lot of events submitted in the third submission cycle.

All of which is to say that it is possible that there still could be some official C&C events at Gen Con this year that haven't made it into the event database yet. It really depends upon whether any events were submitted for consideration, and whether or when GC approves the events for the convention.

And with all of that in mind, don't forget that Event Registration begins April 20.

Offical start times: 9:00 AM PDT for True Dungeon, 1:00 PM PDT for all other events.
