Thanks Steve

Post by seskis281 »

Steve,

I just read your blog on the future of TLG and just wanted to say thank you. It would be all to easy to let this tragedy take the wind from all of our sails, especially for you, Davis and all the Trolls... but there is so much still out there to see that I am glad TLG will continue to carry on Gary's legacy.

With C&C and LA, TLG has two wonderful flagship systems, both of which will inexorably be tied to the memory of Gary. KoE/KoF, the Gord novel and GFW lines are also excellent monuments. In the end, and I apologize if this seems presumptuous, but I think what drew Gary toward this company is that, of all the parties out there, TLG and its aims were closest to what once was TSR.

So my thanks, and I'm sure the thanks of many here, for committing to continuing to offer RPGs and games in the spirit of EGG.

Sincerely,

John

Yes, indeed. Thanks Steve. For everything. May we honor him, always.

(It makes my eyes water to read Gary had asked for me to do anything. I sort of figured I was under the radar.)

Thanks. I was thinking about harassing you about the update you promised a couple of days ago, but I am glad to see what your intentions are. I wish TLG ever growing success.

Great post Steve. I know that wasn't easy to say. I think I sensed a large amount of regret that you couldn't get all of Gary's material published fast enough. We always tell ourselves we could have done better, but that doesn't really help. Do what you have planned - publish & publicize Gary's material the best that you can - who cares how long it takes. Gary's projects are worth even more to us now than before. Because of TLG, Gary's future honor may be even greater than it now.

Aren't you the great, "Critter Creator," as Gary called you?

When the eyes of an eagle soar, you do not expect them to look at the worms, especially when tasty mice are scurrying about. Sure, Gary had an idea of who I was, as evidenced by his comment to me when we met... but that is not the same thing as what Steve posted in the blog - at least, to my mind's thought process.

But, please, I'm sorry. That and this comment are not meant to detract from the intent of the original post.

So, again: thank you Steve, and the Gygax family, for allowing us to continue the heritage, the legacy. We hope to do you proud.

Its great to hear such heartening news. It is also wonderful to hear that so many of TLG products are in additional print runs. I'm sure having Gary as a business consultant was very beneficial, and his guidance can continue to lead the way.

It is a shame that Gary couldn't see KoE KoF completed, your story of how the editor disappeared is a clear example of how human resources is a vital part of a company. I hope that as TLG grows it can continue to find dependable employees, expansion is not an easy task.

I would guess that there are many on this board who could help. It seems there are about 20 long time forum regulars that could pitch in if there is any other emergency.

TLG= Diamonds in Arkansas indeed!

Twasn't the editor, it was the person who was to do the graphic layouts of the cards and maps.

Suffice it to say the sudden rush of work made for one very tired Pete who was trying to rush out basic card layouts and a map inside of a week.

I am overjoyed to hear this news.

I came to TLG and C&C at the end of last summer specifically because of TLG's association with Gary and the old-school nature of C&C.

After reading the C&C PHB I was even more glad that I found TLG.

Now I am buying up old 1e and 2e AD&D books specifically to use with C&C. (I just acquired G1-3, D1-3, & Q1.) I am also looking forward to getting CZ and GFW.

My players are having a blast with C&C and so am I.

Gary's work was my introduction to roleplaying. Thanks to TLG I am reclaiming that.

Thank you.

Continue on guys. I have said this in passing but never believed it more than I do today: C&C is the true successor to AD&D just as TLG is the true successor to Gary's TSR! You guys are the new generation carrying Gary's torch and it couldn't have been passed to a better bunch!

Thank you for that, Steve. You wear your heart on your sleeve and I appreciate that. Here's to more great gaming products from TLG and here's to Gary and his family!

*raises cup*

Happy gaming,

Yes, it is a very good blog. Thnaks for posting your thoughts and letting the fans know what is going on. Most of all, thanks for continuing Gary's spirit in the games, and in particular thanks to the Trolls themselves for keeping going.

The industry would be a much darker place without some Trolllords in it, that much is for the reals.

*much respect*
