Some of you all may have seen in the Society section that I am running a play by chat game. There are spots open for those interested. We will begin play next Monday at 1PM EST (3-4 hours playing). My map is not nearly as deatiled or beautiful as the Ilsahara map, but I have spend alot of time on the history, economy and society (thanks GFW books!). The link to info about the game is in my signature. Thanks folks!

Right now it is run on Mondays, during working hours. We will be switching to Sunday nights, I forget the proposed time right now. Bi-weekly.
Sundays starts on the 21st. No game on Monday the 14th.
What do you need to do? Find the thread on Dragonsfoot and download the IRC and figure out how to use it. Then e-mail CK at k b d e k k e r at gmail dot com about your PC.

Vestin,
How many hours ahead of CST are you in England? 8? He wants to do Sunday evenings, so that would put you late Sunday morning or early afternoon. Please tell me that can work for you.

On Sundays I work until 1pm so after that is good if it works with the rest of you.

1Pm your time is 7am my time, so I'll still be asleep, no problems.

Can we try to do it, say, 3PM or later in Vesti's time? I do like to sleep in on Sundays. Bi-weekly I'll sacrifice some sleep in time to game.

Thats what I planned on, I like my sleep as well and considering that my local gaming group meets on Saturdays, I never get to bed before 4AM on Sundays. A little update though, Meepo will be unable to join us untill we start play on Sundays, I have no problem with this at all (real life often trumps RPG life). Anyway I figure we could get the campaign started with you two, generate some interest in ir, and by the time Meepo is back we will have a nice full group. Tell me what you think? Also since Steve and the Trolls made a section on these boards just for online C&C I will post about this game from now on in that section.

If you're moving to Sunday, I might be able to join (especially if it is a bi-weekly affair). Anytime from 5 pm onwards my time (GMT) would be fine (that would be noon EST).
What kind of chat programme will you be using?

We currently using mIRC on the MagicStar server. But I am open to new suggestions if there are better programs. We will only play 2 sessions before moving to Sundays, so you will not miss much. Please send me a PM if you are interested, I would be glad to have you! And yes, it will be bi-weekly when we move to Sundays.

I have some very stupid questions, as I don't normally use chat programmes.
1. How would I get mIRC (I have a mac powerbook G4, so anything that doesn't work on a mac is problematic)?
2. What is the 'MagicStar' server?
Thanks to anyone who can answer these lame queries!

I can field this one (I love Macs )
You can use any Mac compatible IRC program. I used to use IRCle a few years back and it worked great.
Afterwards, if the program you use doesn't have a link to teh MagicStar server, you simply need to connect to irc.magicstar.net:6667

mIRC will not work with a Mac.
http://www.mirc.co.uk/help/mac.html
So the other question is unimportant, though, it is a server that hosts the chatrooms used by those who connect to it for whatever purposes, sort of how TLG has a "freeyabb" server (not really, but the idea is good enough to convey the intent.)
Of course, if a Mac IRC-compliant program can connect to the server... then you should be good to go. You just can't use mIRC.

I know Magicstar runs on Linux, so theoretically it should work with both Mac and PC. If not we can switch to the chatrooms over at Dragonsfoot.

Well I know from past experience that the Dragonsfoot chatroom works with mac.
Isn't there a chat programme here at the TLG site now?

Yeah, there's a chat service here, but I'll warn you: its jumpy and slow.

Does the Dragonfoot chat room have a dice roller?
Posted: Tue Jul 25, 2006 11:36 pm
by Combat_Kyle
Yes the Dragonsfoot chat has a dice roller, however you can change your handle in the room, so at times it can bee hard to keep track of characters. If nobody is against it we can switch there so Akrasia can play, and Serleran mentioned he was interested, maybe playing on DF would entice hime to join.
