Saweeeet!

Just downloaded and browsed through it and it looks great! Definitely has that "old school" Gamma World feel!

Very nice, Matthew! I haven't read through it in detail, but I really like the introduction and the flow of the presentation. This is just what OSRIC needs for introducing new players to the game/concept. Have the OSRIC folks seen this yet?

Thanks for your thoughts, Foxroe! I hope a closer reading lives up to expectations!

To answer your question...

This project was developed at the Knights & Knaves website in full view of the community (and anyone else who happened by). The Alpha Draft (and I don't expect the Beta Draft to differ except by way of corrections to the text) was approved by the OSRIC Licensor.

I plan to xerox a couple of dozen copies for free distribution at my local game stores (hopefully tomorrow) and anybody else downloading the document is encouraged to do the same (though I will likely have to reorder the pages for ease of printing).

I'm working on a one-shot for Mutant Future. I've got the bare bones of it in place so that I can actually run it, but I think I'll type it up in Word format so I can send it to others if they are interested. I'm afraid it is too challenging for first level characters, so I definitely need to get my players to run through it before passing it on. Given the high hit points and power levels for first level characters in Mutant Future, it is a little hard to predict how well they will handle monsters with lots of hit dice.

Thanks, Adaen. It was a lot of fun to put together. I printed out the Alpha Draft in booklet form and was very pleased with the result, but I haven't had time to take copies through to Newcastle yet. I have corrected about a dozen errors for the Beta Draft, but nothing too major so far.

Nice! I am looking forward to seeing what people come up with for Mutant Future.

Heh. I wondered if anyone ever saw that post.

The castle has taken on a life of it's own. When the pieces from the picture above were finished, the castle had the footprint of, say, a placemat. That wasn't going to do. Not at all.

The castle currently has the footprint of my kitchen table. Here is the last picture I took, just putting the pieces out to see how it was looking. The castle is far, far from completion.

Yes, it's been modified a fair bit.

Me, too.
The idea has taken hold in me that I am building it to use for KotB. This project began before my game imploded, once more, and I was planning on using it for the characters we were running. Without a game, the castle didn't have a specific purpose, which lead me to start thinking once more about running my own game, and using the Keep on the Borderlands as a base of operations.

Originally my main source of inspiration, the image I was going by, was Beaumaris Castle in Anglesey. http://www.castlewales.com/beaumar.html

Yeah, Harry Joy that is pretty swanky. I've bee thinking a lot lately about adding more scenery to my LOTR miniature games, and your growing castle is giving me ideas!

Labyrinth Lord was just delivered to my doorstep today... AWESOME!!!

It really brings me back to the heady days of my gamer youth. Kudos to you on putting together an attractive, easy-to-read and well-organized homage to and reprint of Basic D&D.

I'd recommend it to anyone looking to play Basic D&D, as it looks to be the best written version to date. Only the Aaron Allston's Dungeons & Dragons Rules Cyclopedia surpasses it... and that's only because it is far broader in scope.

Aye, great, and all free to download in pdf format. Got to love what Goblinoid Games have been up to.

Personally, I think Basic Fantasy Role Playing Game is far superior to LL, though it does take a rule or two from d20. I think that Basic Fantasy RPG captures the spirit of Basic D&D quite well.

Thanks for the kind words! Yeah, Labyrinth Lord is not meant to be "innovative." It is what it is. It's certainly not to everyone's tastes but I think I succeeded in the goals I had with it.

The distribution drive has gone well, so I'll get that ball rolling and with any luck by Christmas or the end of January we'll be able to find Labyrinth Lord in game stores!

I'm working on miniatures for several PrimEvil Studios customers. I'm also working on the rough outlines of the first adventure I plan on releasing through my Fifth Column Productions label.

Finally, I just received a package from Tim Kask today - some very collectible miniatures I'm painting for this year's GenCon auction.

I like to keep busy . . .

I've got a question about yer painting service. Could a customer place orders with, NKG (for one example), and have them ship the mini's direct to you for painting?

Yup. It's been done quite a few times now.

Feel free to drop me a message over at PES if you've got any other questions.

I am still working on the finer details of the single adventure that I have been running now, every Saturday evening, (Save for a few missed due to unavoidavle circumstances) for a little over two years.

At this moment: doing some writing / idea creation (what I write will likely be edited and reworded to fit "the voice" of the design) for the Castle Keeper's Guide.

Looking through art clips and putting faces with names as I flesh out personalities, quirks, mannerisms and interesting tidbits etc for NPC's of a village.
