4e and edition timeframes

Post by qstor »

I know a lot of people here aren't fans of 3e but I thought I'd gripe here:)

I guess a lot of 'bones in my body' are cyncical now cause we had 3.x for five years before 4e was being worked on, so gee those five years weren't very fun.

I was thinking the other day.

I started playing with 1e so:

1e 1978-1989

2e 1989-2000

3e 2000-2005 (when Orcus was started)

Putting on the sarcastism hat. Notice how little time 3e was given. I'm so glad that WOTC realized that 3e was broken.

I guess 5e will be out in 2012.

Well, we do try and avoid edition griping on the TLG forums. There's been quite enough of it of late with the advent of the new offerings from Wizards.

See Steve's post here on the first page of this thread.

Huh, my understanding is that 3e was 2000-2003, 3.5e was 2003-2008. I dunno why people choose 2005 for 3e... what's Orcus got to do with it?

I converted him to C&C but he got away and now is around here somewhere. I figure one day Rise of Orcus adventure for C&C will be released and I will be able to find him again.

Now if I can only find Vecna as well...

I saw him about 4 years ago while I was in Vegas. He was playing the nickel slots at the Excalibur. Three nearby unfortunates had their souls vaporized when he got excited over hitting the $42.35 jackpot.

It was wild.

Orcus was the "code name" WOTC gave to the early design of 4e. I was at the discussion of 4e at DDXP.

project orcus has been underway for some time but the big brain has not allowed it to be mentioned outside the family until pretty recently. that is a good thing i think since it builds hype. hype is good. makes people talk about it. certainly has worked here
