Might check with the Kenzer people. Seems like your best bet.

Or try Noble Knight games.
www.nobleknight.com

...they usually have a good selection of hard to find stuff.

It will be difficult to find a good copy used of the first printing. The binding was problematic. Most everyone reports it coming apart with moderate use, which is a darned shame considering the high quality of the paper, art and other contents. Kenzer got some kind of deal for the 2nd printing out of it, however.

It's a beautiful book and a wonderful system, and bodes well for Hackmaster 5th Edition [it's a trial run, much like SWSaga for 4th]. But it's a difficult world to play in.

I picked up the Showdown rules - a good little book for the fastplay shoot'em up rules. Keeps you going until the "big book" is ready!

The 1st printing of A&8s is amazing. Really one of the best looking RPG books ever made. The system is real heavy though. Still good.

Sounds like if I really want it, I should exercise patience and wait till 2nd printing comes out in July.

Or, you could check bookstores, like Chapters. Never know.

I walked into a store here and found Dark Heresy just sitting on the shelf. Snagged it immediately.

As a long time player of Deadlands and Deadlands Reloaded from Savage Worlds, I was intrigued by this release. Jolly "KODT" Blackburn tried to personally sell me on the book at last year's GenCon. I was short on money(limited funds, and the fact that most of my money was going to Savage Worlds and C&C product). The system seemed a little too heavy for me at the time. But, I still wanted to give it a try. Needless to say, I bought the book this year from a regional game dealer. I have mixed feelings. On one hand, all of the material about professions, jury trials, firearms, etc. was great. Even the system for combat, etc. That said, it felt like some of the old Avalon Hill war game manuals. Mind you, I'm in my late 30's, and only attempted to play a small handful of these in the 1980's. They were great games, but just a little too bogged down for me on the whole. Same with this book. It's beautiful to behold, but a little daunting for me. Might keep it as a Deadlands reference book, or might sell it. At my age, I like to keep my games simple. Not as simple as Risk, but something with minimal crunch and detail.

I hadnt heard that the binding was bad on these. Mine had held up well so far, but I havent given it lots of use yet, just more of a coffee table book right now. Would love to play it sometime, but havent been able to at this point. Maybe I'll see if my oovoo video conference group wants to give it a shot sometime.

Set aside a solid night for character generation, and if you can, use the Excel char-gen tool you can find at the Kenzer site. Them build points... I'll put it this way, we had an accountant in the group I played Aces & Eights with, and we were damned glad of it.

There are also any number of threads at Kenzer's forums talking about the binding issue. The ones that didn't fail were the exception.

Haha nice! We have an MBA (and CFA) in our oovoo group, and I may be glad of that when it comes time for chargen! Thanks for the tip on the excel file.
