Anyone interested in seeing a preview of M&T II? I'm thinking 5 or so creatures.
Seems when I post this stuff, no one says anything, so I'm going with "no."

I myself would really like to see a preview; out of all the C&C stuff coming -aside from the CK Guide- this' the resource I'm waiting for.

Yep, I would love a little sneak peak as well.
And just out of curiosity, where have you been posting "this stuff"? I do remember seeing something about a cloud fairy, or nymph or some such thing, I skimmed over it briefly and planed on giving it a good once over once I got home, but now I cant seem to find it.
Unless of course I imagined the whole thing.. stranger things have happened

The only place it belongs: the Rules forum. There was an earlier post - it has been deleted. I want to decide what to post as a preview, first. Not sure I liked the offerings, though they were kind of fun.

Like you have to ask. Of course we would like a preview. Just let me know where to look for them.

I would prefer the book.
A preview would definitely wet my appetite in the mean time.

I just want the whole book damn it!
Good stuff as always. I'll be really eager to see some of the art to go with these critters in the finished product!

Actually, Indigo Rose was in the middle of replying to the original 2 monsters when it was removed. After she'd typed it out and everything. Oh well...

Well, sorry about that, but I wasn't sure if I wanted to use those, or not. Ended up doing so, but added a few more, too. Just thought I'd get it all together in a little more friendly way.

Very nice.
With the detailed description/background it gives the GM the ability to go into detail about the creature if needed, or to simply throw it at the party.
The ability to only suffer minimal damage from certain attacks definitely makes the party step it up a notch when the creatures do not die as fast as the party thinks they should.
Keep up the good work.

Nice work. I look forward to seeing the whole book. I especially liked the Cluricaun and the Nepheliad. I see all kinds of possibilities with these two monsters in non-combat type encounters.

Excellent to get a look at this (although the Cluricaun is far too terrifying to use in any campaign below 30th level), and any further previews would be most welcome.

Looks great, the only issue I saw was the spell resistance. I thought if it had a SR of 8 it would resist spells on a 1-7 not a 1-8. Sorry for being picky I thought I would point it out to avoid any furture boo-boo's.

It is not a mistake. You're misreading how it works. Needing an unmodified 8 or higher to affect th creature means a 1-7 does not.

The previews look pretty cool. I like the demon write-up. Already got some ideas for it.

Well, as I had tried to say yesterday before the original post was pulled, I definitely like the immunity to electricity aspect of the Nepheliad. It's an original twist and it makes sense to the creature. Giving them resistance to wind and other weather spells would be something nifty to do with them as well, I think.
Superficially the Patchwork Skeleton bears a resemblance to the Bag O' Bones monster from Shadows of the Halfling Hall, although the powers are certainly different. Both creatures are used predominantly as guardians, too--great minds think alike?
Finally, I must say I also greatly enjoyed the "Davisian"... I can't imagine what you're implying! Actually, I think I can... Hopefully they're good-natured creatures!
Now if only we can get a CKG out of the Trolls

Yeah, maybe make the Cloud Nymph immune to all weather based magic? Or maybe a SR of 12 or so vs them?

Maybe it is. I don't know, as I don't really recall what that creature is like and I've never used it. However, I have used skeletons like the patchwork one since 1986 or so (I believe it was inspired by a late-night horror show where a skeleton put itself back together after being hacked up by a guy with an axe...

all this is is a full-on write-up, sort of like the fleshcrawler from M&TI, rather than me just using them in-game with no real stats. Hell, I don't even use the real stats in a game -- I just do whatever feels fun at the time.

Clouds are definitely not immune to either (though I guess they might be "too high" for an earthquake to affect...,) so I don't think a cloud nymph would be, either, but that's me. You can add whatever you want to the monster, of course. It would make them a little more interesting - perhaps as an ability for "matron nepheliad?"

That sort of depends - are they drunk? If so, probably not too unpleasant, unless you try to take their booze, and then, whoa! I, too, have no idea what inspired it...
Thanks for the comments. Every little thing helps make them better.

I think descriptions are too long and would prefer them as short as possible.

by serleran
As short as possible? OK, that is easy:
Monster
Fill in the blanks.
Seriously, I understand. I don't agree, of course, but I understand. There is a simplicity in less is more. I tried to provide only what I thought needed for the particular monster. It is probable what I think is needed, and what others do, are different.
At least I don't make the call for what goes in, so what is being seen is not necessarily how it will end up in the finished product...
