C&C Characters that Rock

Post by DangerDwarf »

Yesterday I was reorganizing my gaming stuff and came across some old character sheets from our Dragonlance game. This campaign was a conversion of the Age of Mortals campaign series of modules by MWP. It reached higher levels more quickly than your standard C&C game because I was awarding the suggested story awards and giving other bonuses to keep the characters on track with the progression in the modules.

This was simply the best campaign we have played....EVER. Looking over the character sheet of my wife's character in the campaign made me smile and think of the good times the group had running through it all.

I figured I'd post her stats, just for kicks. Lets see some of your favorite characters and their numbers.

Kylana Lethani
Lawful Good, Level 22 Silvanesti Elf Fighter

STR: 13 (22 w/belt)

DEX: 17 (21 w/gloves) PRIME

CON: 14

INT: 13 PRIME

WIS: 10

CHA: 14

AC: 25 (Lethani Family Armor)

HP's: 139

Primary Attacks: TWP Fighting Style Specialist. 2 attacks per weapon.

The Redeemer +26 to Hit 1d8+9 damage (Dragon Bane Weapon)

Sylvan Blade +27 to Hit, 1d8+10 damage (+1d6 outside)

Other Magical Items: Ring of Evasion, Quiver of Habbakuk, Brooch of Shielding, +2 Flaming Longbow, Shard of Light, Cloak of Elven Kind, Gloves of Dexterity, Girdle of Strength, Circlet of persuasion, Major Ring of Fire Protection, Lethani Family Armor (Elven Chainnail w/ Major Cold Resistance).

She was a kick ass finesse fighter that wielded Huma's Lance for awhile. She returned it to the Solamnics after Frost was slain though. She also managed to stick the lance in Cinder's eye (crit!) as they plummeted to the earth below.

Over all she was a well played character and refused upgrades to better armor because her armor was a family heirloom.

Very cool. We have some good characters that might be worth posting, but I no longer have the character sheets.
Though I am oft remembering a gnome fighter that carried a flail that was as big as he, with a hatred for ghosts!

Cool - sounds like she was a character with some great, high-flying adventures.

I have fond memories of playing a barbarian in a 1e Dragonlance campaign, but haven't been back since, sadly.

How the heck did she get to 139 hit points?! I guess it's mathematically possible, but damn! That's some good dice-rolling.

I think the Max for her Con, Level, etc would have been around 160. After the party defeated Gellidus they were appropriately epic in their scope as PC's and the surviving party members (All 2 of them) got suitably epic bonuses. She got a bump in her HP.

At one time I had a notebook we referred to as the "Hall of Heroes". In it were old character sheets of retired characters stretching back into the early 90's.

Unfortunately it was damaged beyond salvation 2 years back. A lot of my personal gaming history went out the window with it.

I am sorry to hear about the loss of your gaming material DD. It is always hard to lose stuff like that that cannot be replaced.

I can relate, I had such a misfortune several years ago myself with some of my old AD&D stuff, except my stuff was borrowed and never returned (i.e. stolen) by a fellow player I was stationed overseas with.

Right now, I think my gnome wizard/druid rocks. That is a nasty combination, by the way. The inherent ability to speak with burrowing mammals coupled with some pretty decent gnome spells (not to mention both wizard and druid spell access) is just wrong. Add to that the fact that I've been rolling better than the party fighters, and it makes the little guy quite the "package."

Yea, I have to say the Druid/Runemark in y campaign is pretty gruesome. Of course just being able to cast Creeping Doom is pretty darn scary.

One of my favorite characters is Jaren Sen. He's a 12/12 thief/magic-user dual class. Most of you would probably blanch at his magic item list. But suffice it to say he's a walking trinket and bag of tricks shop, with extra dimensional spaces to put it all.

This character is well armed, well armored and carries around a lot of distractions. Not to mention an effective dual wielding fighter with a high dex and magical fire power.

Myself and a couple of ranger characters, in an AD&D summer school class, made a good haul when this character was a 5/6 level combo back in the 80's. A very good haul.

Why did I hear the (Real men of Genius) theme song as soon as I saw the this post?

The award goes out to you Mister gnome warrior with a 9 strength but a 17 int. You with your pole arm specialization and extra small loincloth. No one can manage that (Come get some)Warcry while pole vaulting into the middle of the enemy force and then scream like a little girl that the DM is out to get you when even goblins manage to hit you every single time, like you can.

Well, the enemy wizard can practice their clay pigeon shooting at least?

"PULL!" "I cast fire ball!" POOOOM! One powdered gnome.

I'm always the CK/Dm so I've never had a chance to play C&C as a player. So, its the Pc's in my group that I have to get a kick out of. Another bad ass was in my C&C Midnight game.

Kaja was a 5th level Dorn assassin with the Shadow Walker Heroic Path.

A great character type for Midnight, she wasn't so much an assassin for hire as she was a guerrilla fighter against the darkness.

It was a fun mini campaign for us.

Very cool, DD ~ your wife's character and the game.

I've never had the opportunity to play such high level and to look at the stats and think about it is . . well mind boggling but very darn cool.

I've had some nice tastes of mid level play thanks to online play with Treebore (6th level knight and 9th level mage).

Heh, quite challenging it seems for a DM, but maybe not so much for you veterans.

Incidentally, I reading the 2nd DL novel and as you know from my other post have been reading the 1st DL module - (interest in DL ~ thanks to skathros, Rigon, Rabindranath and Jaybird et. al.).

Anywho, I've been thinking about how amazing Tracy Hickman's creativity and output was and how it inspired loads of gaming material.

I know some folks don't care for DL or Ravenloft, but hey . . talk about a huge volume of stuff. Wow.

Here's my favorite C&C character... from a game that we rarely play (the DM works and goes to school full time, and has two wee bonny lasses to care for). He's the best character I've ever rolled for a D&D game.

Right now he's going through the Slave Lord series of adventures.

Thrain Sturlisson
Lawful Good, Level 4/4 Mountain Dwarf Cleric/Fighter
Deity: Clangeddin Silverbeard
Homeland: Joten Mountains of Greyhawk

STR: 16 PRIME

INT: 10

WIS: 18 PRIME

DEX: 10

CON: 16

CHA: 16

AC: 18 (Platemail +1)

HP's: 39

Primary Attack:

Battle Axe +1 (+8 to Hit, 1d8+4 to damage due to Specialization)

Other Magical Items:

Staff of Healing, several clerical scrolls

Born into the middle class, Thrain is the 2nd son of the armorer and warrior Sturli Thorsson. His brother, Magni, is a paladin. He left his mountain clanhold seeking to serve his deity by battling the ancestral enemies of his people while learning the art of war.

Favorite exploit... inciting a group of gnolls in a Highport tavern to rise up against their orc rivals. It took some persuasion (and a lot of drinks) but it was great fun... and well played I might add.
I have existed from the morning of the world and I shall exist until the last star falls from the night. Although I have taken the form of Gaius Caligula, I am all men as I am no man and therefore I am... a god.

One of my favorite characters currently is my Half Ogre. He is in an online Realms Game played on wednesdays.... He has been killed not once but twice, and has only 3,000 more experience than when he started due to level loss from dying.

He is still great fun, and it is the roleplay aspects that make him some much fun.
