...after the Iron Maiden concert last weekend!
Well, at least I think it's all back.

Ya know, that's the cool thing about some of these classic rock and metal bands: they don't change their sound to reflect "maturity", "the times", or "social awareness". They still crank it out like they were doin' back in the day (which was a Wednesday I believe...).

I still have a hard time forgiving them for Blaze Bailey.

Hmm . . . I've got tinitus after years of playing in bands, and running sound for them. That bit of ringing in your ears, I have it all the time . . .
The Egg
Ahh yes, the ringing. I had forgotten.
My hearing seems OK after years of concerts and in particular The Who, Led Zeppelin et. al. And I remember getting unlucky one time and sitting off center in front of walls of Marshall stacks for somebody.
So now, I absolutely cannot tolerate loud music live.
My wife and daughter made me go to a Moby concert a few years back and it was torture even with ear plugs.

What is your all time favorite Maiden tune?
Mine is a hard toss up between Revelations and Hallowed be thy name (comming out in the front I think)
Now that I am older I can really relate to the Flight of Icarus heh
Too many. I love Revelations, partially for the Chesterton bit at the beginning ( go from Number of the Beast on one album to quoting a modern Catholic apologist on the next, brilliant!). I go through phases, but I still love the Seventh Son album since that's when I got into them. Can I Play With Madness is still an awesome tune to run to in my iPod. The Prisoner is the same way. I like to put it late in my run and let it boost me: "Break the walls, I'm coming out!"

I can't answer for Wulf but I have been some. I have listened to a few songs after his return and found it lacked the magic of the early albums. Then again I was a big fan of everything up to and including Fear of the Dark I had The X Factor bit chucked it out the window of my top floor apt building after the third track. (The best sound that album made was when it hit the street)
After that I kinda lost interest in them. Is the new stuff any better?
Oh and favorite Maiden songs: Rhime of the ancient Mariner, Powerslave and too many others to list.

OK, guys! I'd be remiss if I didn't say at least something here. I'm an audiologist (hearing guy) and have been for 13 years now. If you don't wear some type of hearing protection when going to those concerts, you're asking for it. They make all kinds of different types these days. The even make plugs for musicians called "musician's plugs" . They come with three different filter settings - 9, 15, & 25dB cuts. They do work!
Any type of ear protection, if worn properly, will go a long way into saving your hearing and preventing a lot of grief afterwards.
Tinnitus (ringing, buzzing, hissing, you name it) is a very common side effect or symptom of noise abuse. It may go away, it might not. Many times it will fade over time. At this point, there isn't any "magic pill" to make it go away.
So, use hearing protection or suffer the consequences!! Believe me, even with ear plugs, you'll still be able to hear the music just fine.
Now back to our regularly scheduled program...
