For crying out loud. Do your best with the rolls the dice have given you. This is what separates the men from the boys... -Kayolan
We liked "30 Days of Night". "I am Legend" is pretty good too.

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Depends on what style of horror you are interested in.
Of recent release was the spanish film, The Orphanage.

Spooky, and in the horror genre but not very much blood and disfigurement (which is very popular now days).
For a more gore-filled horror ride (but still very good), I reccomend the english film The Descent by Neil Marshall from 3-4 years ago. Good stuff.

I'm with the O -- depends on what type of horror. There have been a string of decent Japanese (and other Asian) horror movies of late (Audition, for example) that have Western counterparts (The Grudge, The Ring,) but there are still some OK pure Hollywood ones, too. I was moderately surprised by The Hills Have Eyes remake: more gory than the original, and I actually liked it. If you're bent on a little dark comedy, something like Versus is great, as would be Dead and Breakfast (these are both a few years old - this style of movie doesn't tend to come along too often, unfortunately.) Oh, and I can never recommend The Gingerdead Man enough - if you want horror silly, or even Jesus Christ: Vampire Hunter. For the more psychodramatic, there are a few decent ones left (movie-makers, in my opinion, have forgotten how to make this kind of film, and I do not consider M Night Shymalan to be that great as I find the movies predictable at worst, boring at best) but they are old and probably ruined because of that (ie, they no longer hold their impact.)

The Descent is really quite good, definitely very scary.
Here are some of my favourite horror movies:
Alien
Halloween (No really the first one is actually good!)
The Shining
The Sixth Sense

I was 12 years old when my father dragged me to see this in the theaters for some father-son-bonding...
I couldn't sleep for three days afterwards.
It no longer scares me though. I just watch it because it's a great movie.
