Is there an official statement by Gary...
Officially stating his support and endorsement of C&C? A forward in one of the books, maybe?
I know he said it an unknown number of times in various posts around the internet, but I don't remember seeing anything that could be considered an official endorsement. Meaning a formal publicity type of statement.
If there is such a thing, please point the way.

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Yeah, that is what I was thinking. I know he liked C&C, supported/endorsed it, but I don't remember any kind of offical type of statement being made anywhere. You know, like "Hi, I am ..... and I endorse this product."

The closest was a statement on DF that said AD&D was dead and C&C should be played instead but that was in no way official and was made with some posters giving him a bad time.

Dear Mr. Gygax,
what do you think of the Castles & Crusades game? How would you compare to (dare I say it) AD&D? Do you think it is a "better" game in terms of design, ease of use, game mechanics etc.?

I prefer the old system of THAC0 and saves, but the C&C game is close to that and vital, something that can not be said for OAD&D.

Now in regards the C&C system, I have indeed played it and modified it a tad as will be noted in the forthcoming Castle Zagyg, Yggsburgh campaign setting. It is because the game plays much like OAD&D that I decided to publish the CZ project with the Trolls. (Alas, poor THAC0, I knew it well, Horatio.)
Actaully, I am playing (LMing) the Yggsburgh setting using the Lejendary Adventure game system now, for I much prefer its scope and freedom. However, for the castle-ruins dungeon crawling, the C&C system suits the eventually forthcoming material to the proverbial T

Coming in late, but EGG said pretty much the same on the Fans for Christ pages, as well:

I find the C&C system to be the closest thing to OAD&D.

It should go without saying (but I'm saying it anyway):
Of all the people that would love to have Gary on board, and of all the places he could have gone to continue his work, Gary chose the Troll Lords. That's got to account for something. Maybe a 'passive' endorsement...

I agree, and feel that way too. Its just someone on ENWorld asked, so I went asking in turn.

Actually Aqua Vitae started it. I just helped. The thread has already died over on ENWorld anyways. I'll know next time though.

Its cool of you to try but I doubt that most ENWORLDERS are likely to see our way of thinking on C&C anyhow. But if you can change just one mind, maybe it's worth it to you. Fight the good fight either way.

I know a fair number of people came to this board because of posts made by me and others over on ENWorld. Even rpg.net. It amazes me how many people just lurk and never post. Or almost never.

I came to this board and play C&C now because of the EN World posts of none other than EGG himself and gideon_thorne back in March 2005.
I had posted there almost exclusively with regard to RPG's.

Hehe.
Argh! I blame my old brain for gaps in my memory now. I forgot that I had asked you to email or PM me that post you wrote about how you won over 3e players (how 3e is actually limiting in its feats, etc.). That was a big help in getting my players to try C&C.
Sorry I have been away from the boards for a looong while. RL has been crazy...
