Will Starsiege adventures be published?

Post by slimykuotoan »

?

The Troll Lords fantasy line has support, so I'm hoping their Sci-fi line will as well.

This is perhaps purely a 'style factor', but I prefer published adventures, and lack the time to design everything from scratch.

So to be honest, I can't see myself purchasing a game where the GM has to make up everything on his own, etc.

Hmmmm. IF they want something TL 12+* I may submit an idea or two.

*TL 12+ according to the play test docs.

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

I would think it would depend on how the initial box set release does.

If it sells well and there is continued interest, I'm sure that there would be other material produced for it. If not... at least the notion of the box set as 'kit' is cool (one gm guide and 4 player guides).

From Steve/Troll Lord:
Quote:
Presently the product is in a test mode. One of the concepts behind the box set is the long term longevity of Lejendary Adventure Essentials. The Essentials box set offers a complete game, to include dice. It continues to sell. To the point that we only have about 80 left.

But that longevity comes from shelf life, derived from the game being complete.

So Starsiege and the games that will follow it, will go through the same process that LA did/does. We continue to offer support for LA because Essentials continues to sell. Starsiege will be given the same treatment. It if does well we'll offer support, if it does not, we will par it off. But anyone who has bought the game isn't being ripped off, they have a complete game in hand.

The hope from our point is that it will be well received and the talk so far is pretty good.

We truthfully hope that SS will do so well as to warrant much more investment in time and money, which will of course mean more modules. It is our intention to support any product line that generates interest.

Ask this question again in about 3 months and I'll know more.

Steve

I truly hope it does well. I am chomping at the bit to get my hands on it. The RPG world needs a well done simple to run Sci-Fi RPG Go Go Gadget Trolls!!!

Yeah. Some easy to run sci-fi would be cool. Admittedly, it's a pretty full market(to some extent for sci-fi) Star Wars SAGA, Shadowrun(if that counts), Mongoose's Traveler(which looks good at a glance), Babylon 5 2nd edition, and I'm sure I'm forgetting a couple of others. Savage Worlds has a three-book sci-fi toolkit, but it's pdf only. Great system, but their fantasy, sci-fi, pulp, and horror toolkits need to be in print. They also have a pulp sci-fi plot point coming out called Slipstream. I'm all ready for some Flash Gordon/Buck Rogers goodness. And, getting back to StarSiege, I'm totally pumped for it. My friends and I had a chance to playtest it before the release of the quickstart guide, and we enjoyed it. I believe it has many strengths. I'll be among the first to buy the box set, and hopefully a number of saddle-stitched mods.

Yeah, as a playtester, I'm ready to pick it up and give it a go, provided there are at least a few ready-made adventures for it.

One of our fellow playtesters said a setting would be nice. Some customers would probably be more interested in a specific setting, but others might find StarSiege useful for making their own settings, creatures, vehicles, etc. That's a tough call. Personally, I don't have time to do much of that, so I'd appreciate adventures, settings, etc.

As another play tester I am definitely anxious to see how it all finally came together.

Sorry if I missed something in this or the other threads, but is the boxed set going to have an adventure with it?? If not, seems like that would have been a good idea.

On a sorta related note, the box art and colors for Starsiege are among the best I've seen for a game.

I could see doing a game modeled after "The Returner". If you've not seen a Daggra battle suit or scout ship in action...you've missed something cool!
