That's right, after weeks of speculation, Blizzard has officially announced Diablo III at its World Wide Invitational event in Paris. Read the full article here!

All i know is, just like Diablo II, i'm going to have to purchase 2 copies of Diablo III as my wife played more Diablo II then i did back in the day.

Hmm...might have to actually get Diablo III. Now, if Blizz will make the Panderan, Half-Elf, Half-Orc and Half-Ogre races playable for WoW and the Monk class I can be happy. I REALLY wanna play a Panderan Monk!

Don't mention the table top stuff. I try not to get myself sidetracked with it. *Looks at Shelf* Oh damn, now I got to flip through the books.

Hmm...It would be nice if Blizzard licensed a full Diablo table top game. Its own system and all.

If you play Diablo II, just look at the stats and how items are configured, it might be a pretty simple process. A long process, but relatively simple.

Don't you mean that it would be nice if Blizzard offered the license to TLG?
[hint] Sanctuary would make a nice campaign setting for C&C! [/hint]

Yes it would. Right now I am looking at setting a spot aside in Greyhawk to put Tristram and incorporate the Diablo stuff into C&C. Mainly the monsters and themes. Since I am leaning toward my campaign being set it the Great Kingdom area I'm scouting spots there.

I use a Diablo like theme in my campaign setting as well. Fully one-half of the known world has been overrun by the forces of evil, etc. One of these days I'll actually finish the setting book I'm working on and make it available online. lol

I was always a big fan of Diablo I and II. Great games that let me get my hack and slash out of the way.

Good God! Diablo II is considered "back in the day."???

In PC Gaming terms anything longer than 6 months is 'back in the day'

Well, it can't be TOO long ago. I still wake my kids up saying,
"It is time for the hero of light to AWAKEN!"

That's O.K. I have a habit of saying "AHHH fresh meat" anytime I put something on the grill.

Edit: I also want to go on record as saying that "The Smith" from DII was no where near as cool as "The Butcher".

Yeah, "The Butcher" was cool. The first time my sister-in-law ran into him, she actually screamed out loud.

I love it when a game can do that.

Like the first time in Doom when I encountered the Hell nights at the end of episode I. I had been playing ALL day. The only light in the house was coming from the monitor. When those panels lifted and they roared I nearly jumped out of my chair.

"Can't a fella drink in peace?"

I loved playing the first Diablo. I think it's still on my PC, in fact.

I used to try to make my own classes - my favorite was a warrior that wielded a hammer and knew a bunch of healing and anti-undead spells....

The only thing that I can see completely sucking about this... is how long we will probably have to wait. Between this and StarCraft II, I'm not sure how well this bodes for sooner rather than later.

Then again, I already know I'll be willing to make certain sacrifices for this game. It was Diablo that finally got me to change to Windows 95 after all.

Good point ~ reality check.

Heh, some gaming companies just take way too long to get the game out.

Duke Nukem!! Well, that's an extreme case . . . but I'm still hoping!!
Now Valve did the right thing for Half-Life. The CEO Gabe Newell? admitted that it could be years before HL3 would be ready and released and joked that he and his staff would be retired!!!!

So they've been releasing sections - to wit: HL2 Episode 1, 2 and soon 3 - which are in fact Half-Life 3!

He later admitted that he/they mistakenly named the product. It really should have been HL3 Episodes 1, 2 & 3.

Oh well, at least we're getting the games!!

I dunno. The first Diablo never did it for me. Didn't even bother with the 2nd.

What I want is BG3

BG 3 would be good.

So, I fire up Diablo and Diablo II again, and I am having a blast with them. Of course I'm playing my favorite classes (Warrior and Barbarian). I also have a neat idea for Barbarians in C&C from this. Replacing the rage ability with Warcries. It seems to fit the class better. Better look at my AD&D/D&D Diablo books again.

Damn you Blizzard! Just when I thought I kicked the habit you pull me back in...
