Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

I must whole heartedly agree with Shadoes. That sucks. It was bad enough they stopped the original series. Rest in peace fellow Missourian.

His hometown is a short drive from me.

I'm a huge fan of sci-fi television and movies, but I must admit my viewing of Stargate was infrequent(for no good reason). I like what I saw of the series. Probably not as much as some other late 90's-2000's era programs like Farscape, Firefly, and the new Battlestar, but a good one nonetheless. I enjoyed Don's character a great deal. I'm from Missouri, as well, not extremely close to his hometown. And, I had no idea he majored in theater at SIU in Carbondale, Illinois. Just over an hour from here, and the site for a con I attend each year. Anyway, 65 is far too young. My thoughts go to his family, fellow actors, friends, and fans.

I remember him mostly from Twin Peaks and not SG-1, but that's to be expected. I shall have a marathon of watchment in his honor.

I always liked his work. He will be missed, especially by us Stargate fans.
Rest in Peace General Hammond.

*virtual 21-gun salute* A truely enjoyable actor to watch perform...

Major bummer.

He was truly a critical element of the chemistry on Stargate. He will be missed.

I never watched this show, but I did like Twin Peaks. But I don't remember this actor in that series. But I will say R.I.P.

He was Major Garland Briggs in 16 episodes.
