Although it's mostly homebrewed for me, we did have a lot of fun with Dark Sun for a while a couple of years ago.

Though I love lots of different settings (for different reasons), my hands down favorite is The Atlantean World (as documented in The Atlantean Trilogy: The Arcanum, The Lexicon, and the Bestiary by S. M. Sechi, et. al.). It documents proto-Earth, our own mythic world before "The Oceans drank Atlantis".

It is the most versatile world I've ever used. It has an amazing breadth with just enough depth so as not to get in the way. Modular entries and sub-settings are easy to incorporate as all of the world's ancient cultures are represented and there are ties to Talislanta (another setting by S. M. Sechi.....this one weird and fantastic, to contrast the familiarity of the Atlantean World).

Many of the ideas that are now seen in C&C can be seen in various forms in the Atlantean Systems (Attribute Checks for saves anyone?).

Anyway, it is a great setting.

Others that interest me in large degree include:

2) Middle Earth

3) Thieves World

4) Conan's Hyborea

5) Greyhawk

6) Forgotten Realms (old box only)

7) Known World (before it became mystara)

I would also love an opportunity to play in Prydain or Earthsea though i have yet to find these worlds fleshed out for RPG use.....

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

O.K. I'm changing my vote. I'm really falling for Airdhe over all others. I have spent time with all my settings this weekend and I like what I see there better. Sorry Greyhawk and Homebrew you've just been moved to #2.

You will want all three if you can find them. The Arcanum contains a lot of background and info on neat magic stuff. It is my favorite RPG book ever. The Bestiary and the Lexicon contain a lot of setting/cosmology info (and were later combined into The Atlantean World book....and captured into Morigan's version of the setting in recent days).

They also serve as the foundation to Talislanta, though somewhat modified. Very interesting work and near 100% compatible to C&C with almost 0 effort... even the resolution method.

Right. I have two of the 3, so I'll be looking out for the third to finish it out. My biggest reason is the artist. He was one of my Marvel Favorites back in the day. Bill S. inked by Klaus Jansen, I think it was, I just loved. So when I saw his name in the art for this, I went hunting.

tough choices ....

It'd be a tie for me between

Wilderlands and

Tekumel (Empire of the PEtal Throne)

Talislanta and Greyhawk are right up there, as well.

I will add this...

As we came to the end of the major campaign arc in Aihrde, my group basically had a choice -- start anew in a different world, start anew in Aihrde, take their current characters on and travel to another world (that opportunity has been presented to them via a mage that our wizard has met), or continue on with Aihrde as they are still going.

It was pretty unanimous - they love Aihrde. They want to explore the Rings of Brass and Inzae at some point (they have knowledge of an existing one), and want to take on Aufstrag (though they wisely, at roughly 9th-10th level, know they aren't ready yet).

I too am more and more in love with the After Winter's Dark campaign. Not kissing Troll butt here (ewww anyway ) but just conveying my love of Aihrde. No other campaign world has wanted to continue for me or any of my groups since Greyhawk.

So its Aihrde for me. The Wilderlands are my other current "into" setting, but the great thing is that what I want from it can easily port into Aihrde.

My own setting I obviously still love, but Airhde has turned out to be the absolute shizz for us.

My favourite all time setting is Dragonlance (especially as written for AD&D 2e). Other than that, my favourite D&D settings include Greyhawk (circa 1e) and Garweeze Wurld (the setting from Hackmaster). I have also been known to play some Mystara here and there, although I tend to feel it is a fairly generic setting (dwarves live in those mountains, elves live in that forest, all human society has a historical analogue etc).

I guess greyhawk will be my all time favorite. The Forgotten Realms are close behind(grey box) . I run greyhawk for mostly site based adventures , like a castle greyhawk campaign or agianst the giants. If i want a long campaign and character development and story I use the realms. Depends on what the palyers want. If they want "kick in the door kill the monster " I use greyhawk . If they want to roleplay and battle vast evill networks and organizations and lots of travel then it's the realms.
