Good way to check out Kalamar?

If you read carefully, even though they are marketing it for 4E, you will see that very, very little will be 4E rules crunch. Plus the Atlas section alone sounds awesome, for map geeks like me.

Over 500 pages of PDF for $25.00 is pretty good.

That looks pretty good. If you haven't any experience with Kalamar, then it looks like a very viable option for initial exposure.

I'd prefer a combination old KoK box set plus the new Atlas.

But that's because I'm a curmudgeonly old gamer that, at the time, hates anything associated with 4E.

Uh oh, I think I see some kids on my lawn!

I absolutely loathe PDF products.

But this...

This is tempting me.

Thanks for the link Tree.

Maps in pdf? No thanks. Even if the text were awesome, I don't want an e-map. Maps should be poster-sized, in paper... not 4.5mb.

it's times like this I simply love having access to a plan size color printer.

I still have my original maps for Kalamar.

You own it or do you 'borrow' it at work? Either way that is a great thing for an RPGer to have access to. I keep wanting to pick up old box sets but never have the budget for them, but I don't take the plunge with pdfs for the same reason Serlean noted: pdf maps printed on 8x11 paper kinda suck.

Huh? I am confused. I thought Kalamar was getting absorbed int their forthcoming Hackmaster 5e(?) line.

access at work, though I still have to pay for the materials used. It'll do up to 42" wide from a roll. Is how I made my own hex maps for my Starmada gaming.

Would be nice if this were a book instead and not a "grayscale, print-on-demand" book. An actual retail product would be nice. I know they already have the old KoK stuff, but I'd like updated 4e products. I'm not a fan of PDF's, so I think two core books would be, nice same as before. They could even make one HUGE book and I'd still be willing to pay $50-$60 for it if it were mostly error-free and of highest quality.

I'm still torn about getting this. Is it basically the d20 book updated with the atlas included?

I just picked up the pre-3e box set, so I doubt this would be any help to me.

I doubt it too.

DD,

I am pretty sure if you have the main 3E books you really have no need to buy this. Its just a good way to get a darn good look at KoK in one shot for $25.00.
