My Adventurer Card

Post by serleran »

If you are not familiar with the card game Adventurer, you should be. Its very simple to play, and is like running through the module Ravenloft, in a way (that is, the point of the current "Castle Deck" is to hunt down and stake Count Lodrac.) Each player has their own unique hero, some designed by luminaries like Gary Gygax. Along the way, you encounter monsters and traps, and battle for treasures to help make you stronger -- the game, normally, takes about 20-30 minutes, and that is if you've never played before. Perfect for those moments where you need something to do in-between games. More info can be found here.

Anyway, not long ago, the developer ran two auctions. One for each of the upcoming expansions. The winner would get to design their own hero card. I won one of the auctions, and, excited, I have been given permission to post that card...

The numbers along the edge are done that way to make tracking Life Point (ie, how many times you can lose to a monster or trap) easier - this hero has 3; most have 4. The expansion this hero will appear is the October release -- Chaos Expansion.

Wow, that looks cool. Is it a CCG? Hope not, hated those ever since Mtg 4e.

Cheers

It is not collectible in the sense of randomized cards (ie, it is not like MtG.) All players play from a communal deck, and you get all the cards (minus special ones you have to special order, such as the designer cards like the Gary Gygax hero or Jim Ward's event card) needed to play when you purchase it -- the expansions simply add to the deck but affect how things are done, or what can be done; for example, there might be a card that, when drawn, lets you steal a treasure from another player. So, no, it is not a CCG in that sense... but is collectible for other reasons. :)

Yep, it's a great game - lots of fun.

Excellent card, serleran. Well done!

Sounds cool, and if they go outta biznaz then you still have the whole game. A big plus! Mtg was always able to mint money...

When I get a minute I will post a pic of the other winning hero. The Dragon Lord.

Hey is it a misprint on the Kinira card that she only has 3 lives.

No. The ability compensates for it.

Yeah, she gets to use her animated monsters as meat-shields.

Though, sometimes it benifits her to lose a Life Point herself to save a useful animated minion.

Yes, and sometimes, you want an easily sacrificed minion, like when you already have three keys and don't need another one... you can take the monster instead, and, if you need to lose him, you can. Keeps the key away from someone else, and keeps you from dying in combat. Win-win. :)
