3d terrain?

Post by shadoes »

How many here use any type of 3d terrain in your games?

heh the dwarven forge stuff is drop dead gorgeous but has a nice prce tag too
anyway I saw these the other day and order some from dark platypus (great name)

These are just set up on a TV tray to show em. Not outstanding but it will give a nice quick 3d set up as they come in 1 inch peice.

So one peice = 5 feet. I put together some 50' setions some 25's,

15s with a couple left over to fill in.

For those interested it is a fairly in expensive way to get some 3d walls. And they transport easy to in the small box heh.

May change my mind after using them in a game this week but so far so good. They do take

some exacto knife clean up and I may go back and dry brush some

more highlights as the web site suggests.

I've seen those before, on ENWorld. I have pretty much gone completely Fat Dragon Games with their card stock stuff. Plus I just enjoy putting it together.

Well, FD has pretty good instructions (when they actually download properly), and perhaps the most crucial part to getting them to look right is to crease along the folds as perfectly as possible.

The walls and doors look good and yeah, if the price is reasonable, I'd try 'em.

Have you got a link by any chance?

http://www.dark-platypus.com/bendy_dungeon_walls.htm

there ya go. I bought the 3 box set and money willing may pick up another hahaha.. WALLS for DAYS!

On the website they do suggest a quick drybrush on the walls and a wash on the doors. I may do that just to help em out a bit looks wise but out of the box they look pretty darn good.

Ahhh, yes Bendy Dungeons, thanks.

I did see these some time ago . . . in fact ~ The Dungeon Delver review them on Don, The GM's website.

I'm going to be using a combination of Fat Dragon and World Works terrain/interiors. FD is a little more forgiving for us newbs. My main problem is getting the stuff printed up at a decent cost.

That's my only dislike with print and do stuff. It's cheaper for me to buy tiles.

I've used Worldworks stuff. It's very nice, but storing it once it's built is a bit of a pain. Hirst Arts Castlemolds are good too.

Both are more work than just buying DF and have some startup costs, but in the long run they are cheaper.

I don't use it. I have some, but I just keep it around because it looks cool. That, and my games are hours away, and its not worth lugging all that stuff about, seeing as I'm not the one doing the running of the game. Maybe, maybe, if I was the game master and the game was at my house. Maybe then.

I'm super picky about stuff like that, its either all the way or nothing.

I've had a really bad experience with the Bendy Dungeon Walls illustrated by the OP. The plastic is low-grade and super-brittle, and the hinges break off REALLY easily. After about three play sessions less than half of my wall sections were still intact. Part of the problem is that the post that snaps into the hinge on the wall sections is oval-shaped rather than cylindrical, so when you bend the joint it puts stress on the hinge, causing it to break. Also the bases are pretty narrow and I've found that the wall sections fall over a lot.

If this product had been made out of durable, resilient plastic it would have been a lot more useful, but as it is, I'd recommend against it.

I do like the Worldworks Games products - storing them isn't bad, I keep all my pieces in a cheap plastic, wheeled, drawer unit available at Staples, but transporting them is a real pain if you don't play at your own house.

Plus your stuff just looks so awesome when put together. Better then Dwarven Forge in my opinion.
