Cheers!
And may you smile down as the world finally breaches the mist and enters your beloved Castle in the coming weeks.

Would have been nice to send Col. Pladoh a birthday message via pm today. We can at least thank him for the "gifts" he's given to us over the years.

I hope he, Tom Moldvay, Bob Bledsaw and all of the dearly departed gods of gaming are playing a great game of AD&D up in the Happy Hunting Grounds.
Thanks again Gary... you are missed.

A bittersweet day, to say the least.
Happy Birthday, oh, great DM. May your grand adventure continue!

Glad to hear somebody mention Moldvay, as well. Hell, he was in his 50's, I think. Played Star Frontiers "Crash on Volturnus" many times.(Moldvay was a co-writer on that one). Not to mention all the other obvious D&D contributions.

Happy Birthday Gary! Your voice, soft with a hint of gravel, echoes still, carried to us in all the countless dice that tumble and roll across our tables! Happy Birthday!
You are missed!

We all toasted Gary in our online game tonight. It was a nice moment and we knew Gary was watching our game. My short bow was killing orcs with precision and my fellow adventurers were on their marks as well!!
Yayyy!

I am still kicking myself for never sending the man a message to let him know how deeply his work and vision had touched me...I couldn't find a good enough "reason" to send it without thinking I'd read like a sycophant. Although the alcoholic beverages are pretty much a thing of the past with this one, I too will raise a glass and join in the chorus: Gary, we miss you very much and know you're looking at us with a fond smile.

We celebrate while you cannot... so, come and join us at the table, Gary. We always have room.

My glass was a Pepsi.
I know how you feel. I actually told him how he effected me and I even asked him if he realized the effects he has had on so many lives. He seemed very uncomfortable with me saying everything.
Rest assured, if he didn't know about you specifically, he was made at least passingly aware of just how much he effected the lives of so many. Not just by me either. I would say across all the messageboard chats I read dozens told him. This was before his death. If you read the tribute threads you'll see hundreds more.
So at the very least you are not alone in feeling the way you do.
