I'm not sure if this has been asked here before, but with the plethera of D&D authors that frequent Dragonsfoot (Frank Mentzer, Steve Marsh, Len Lafolka to name a few) has anyone asked if they would be willing to write up some material for C&C?

Frank would, but he's busy with running a bakery.
Not sure about the others, although it seems Len is doing some freebie AD&D style stuff for posting on DF.
Beyond that, I believe most of these folks have day jobs and just don't have the time.

Frank Mentzer was going to, but some real life stuff, as I understand it, has kept him from doing so. As for the others... I've asked Steve Marsh if I could use some of his stuff before, if I gave him proper credit, and he'd said yes. I just didn't get around to using it. Also, I don't think Len posts at DF... but he has someone that contacts him (Fid, I believe...) so, I'm not sure. There were rumors of Francois Froideval doing a C&C Oriental Adventures. Not sure if Jim Ward has been asked for anything. Tracy Hickman was/is (I don'[t know anymore) doing a C&C conversion of The Bronze Canticles. Gary and Rob, as you know, have already done, or will, do things for C&C.
I think that covers a lot.

You mean they're not all lazy teachers who have 10 weeks of vacation like me?

Well I sure hope the Trolls can get some of those guys on board at some point. I feel like there's a whole world of what could have been involving D&D that could finally see the light of day with the Trolls.
Not that your guy's contibutions aren't apprectiated

Hmm, I think it has been asked. I believe Len has been writing L4, but haven't seen an update on it lately. Not for C&C, but like any AD&D mod, easily converted!

Any good old school material for C&C is always welcome!

I think that's on hiatus for a while. Tracy's moving on to some other projects, and there's a possibility of a sequel to the series that he calls Iron Canticles. Can't wait to see what that one's about!
I suspect, though, that if Bronze Canticles comes out in gaming form, it'll be through Margaret Weis Productions' own step-based system.

Ward has written some freebie stuff for DF's Footprints, too, IIRC.
