Great singer and some time actor.

His performance at the Academy Awards all those years ago was incredible.

Dang. Sad news, indeed.

First Bernie Mac, now Isaac Hayes.

Sad thing is, he'll be mostly remembered for his South Park role. Which wasn't bad, mind you, but he's done so much more. One of the greatest funk/soul performers, IMHO.

Mr. Hayes and Bernie Mac were two men who were far, far too young to be leaving us. I was never that heavily influenced by Isaac Hayes' musical career, but I will, forever and ever, remember him as The Duke in Escape From New York, numerous other bits he did, serious and comic alike, and, of course, his unmatched years on South Park.

I'd like to think of these people leaving us as a time to at least try to be happy - after all, they've left for a far better place and a greater reward than we can ever imagine - but still, it's tough sometimes. Nevertheless, I will put EFNY in the VHS player tonight and simply enjoy the man's work. Mr. Isaac Hayes: You have left the Debarkation Area. You may talk and smoke all you want. Enjoy your trip, and I hope you look down on us and leave at least a little message for us to know that you've heard our prayers.
