well I certainly felt baited yesterday, and pretty clearly I took the bait (somewhat uncharacteristically, I might add). I will apologize for my tone and for rising to provocation.

I've never played 4e (never will), and only played 3e once. C&C is my game of choice at the moment. And yet I have found mountains of gaming goodness in NG products. IMO, moreover, Clark Peterson (whom I've never met) is a pretty standup guy. But it's not worth arguing about this.

I want to point out that every post I've ever read where Clark mentions C&C or TLG, he always speaks favorably of TLG... something like, "they are good guys," etc. I think Treebore likely summed up NG's reason for going with D&D perfectly.

It's probably just a case of the GSL, which forbids 'repackaging' 4e material for other systems and vice versa.

As NG is a small company, that means that they'd have to create entirely original C&C material, a seperate line, which they might not be able to afford. And like it or not, D&D4e is a much more commercially viable prospect for a small company than C&C, at least for now, so they've chosen to concentrate on one thing and to do that one thing well, which is financially intelligent.

Of course, signing the GSL in it's current form means that that decision may well come back to bite CP in the backside and take everything his business owns and leave him with zilch. Yes he might make more money in a shorter period of time, but you can do the same thing playing craps and craps would be a safer bet, because you know the house isn't just going to up and decide to take your dice and all the chips you've won away if it doesn't like the fact that you're on a winning streak...

One. Clark has signed nothing yet.

Two, even had he done so, that would not prevent him from converting old products to C&C. ^_^

Sure, but he's flatly stated he's not going to, so why fuss about it? Dude wants to be a sheep and follow the flock, thats his own business. ^_~`

Hmmm...I have been reading the legal part of the original ToH and it looks like all of the monsters in there are OGC. So , if I am thinking right a C&C conversion can be done but it can't be called the ToH and it would have a whopper of a section 15 in it.

Someone check their copy to see if I am thinking right. But if I understand it right conversions can appear legally.

Yes, the section 15 would be quite long. I'd say the OGL bit would take up about 6 pages.

I would think the Crucible of Freya would be a blast as well.
