Kerry's ADVENTURER card game

Post by Breakdaddy »

So I just got through reading the rules of the Adventurer card game. This game looks pretty fun! I've decided to roll out a game this weekend with some pals and will report back on how it went. We usually get together to play Munchkin and various boardgames but this weekend is going to be a bit different since I got three new boardgames and Kerry's Adventurer card game at the Con this year. I am looking forward to checking this game out as well as Mutant Chronicles boardgame and Battlestar Galactica boardgame.

Adventurer is a great, simple game. It plays quickly and is excellent for pick-up games. Its also very easily modified and completely different each time it is played, and since it is not "collectible," very affordable.

Yeah I've sworn off "collectible" games since I purged my addiction to Magic: The Gathering back in the early 90's. If a game is collectible I don't even bother looking at it anymore.

Well, first off I would like to thank everybody for the huge support at the show. There was a lot of interest in the game and the limited edition Gencon versions of the expansions.

To be honest we were a bit honored and overwhelmed by how many new players picked up not only the core game, but both expansions, plus all the bonus cards after just a couple minute demo.

The good news is that we sold out of the Gencon Editions of the expansions that we ordered. The better news is that we were sent an extra box of the expansions over what we had ordered. So if anybody is interested in getting an early release promo copy of the expansions I will leave the order form up on the site for you. (normal release of Portals is in October and Choas in November.)

Thanks again for an amazing first Gencon as a publisher!

Hey, good news on the early releases! I am also interested in the variant rules you discussed at the Con, Kerry. When are we going to be seeing these?

BTW, I played a solo game of Adventurer with the rule in place that if I lost all four of my lives that I would start over. I got SMOKED by Lodrac early due to my poor shuffling skills but ended up killing him later with only 1 life left (and due in no small part to the fact that the hero I was playing was Lodrac's Twin)!

There are a bunch of variant/additional rules you can use posted on the forums. You can get there by going www.ADVENTURERGAME.com and clicking on the Forums link.

We are also working on an Adventurer Card Game Module, that will have a 10 or so new ways to play Adventurer while just using the same deck of cards. Time permitting we should see that soon.

Solo play as you detailed is probably that hardest way to play the game. What makes it easier is using Gary's optional rule that you can drop unwanted treasure, therefore increasing you chances of running away frequently.

Lodrac's Twin was a very last minute inspiration as I was sending in files to the printer just before Gencon. Im glad to see he is pulling his weight for you!

Excellent! Im going to hop on over there right now for a look. I'm sure that I will be tweaking some rules of my own in the future but am very curious to see what's out there already.

So, were pre-orders part of the "sell out" or are they being filled by the bonus box? ;)

Dont worry, good sir. Before the show started I pulled out copies for the pre-orders.

Kanira awaits.
