Ive seen this game around, Im wondering if anyone has played it. Its supposedly an alternative to those miniature wargames. Each card has a picture/stats of a unit. So instead of assembling & painting very expensive miniatures ,you just buy a deck or two.
The site looks good, they have a demo. Just about every fantasy race is covered.(Dwarves,Elves,Undead, Men, Lizardmen, Orcs & Goblins, etc.)
Anyone have this?
Battlegrounds;Fantasy warfare card game- Anyone play??

I don't have it but was researching it a while back. Most people liked it who played it. Not much negative. I remember reading one post where one guy got it and thought he was going to like it but missed his minis.
Then I found Song of Blades and Heroes and that's where I get my miniature wargaming fix from.
It is pure genius. And I can use any minis I already have.

is the site for it. There are a lot of links to reviews from other sites and people. It is written by an Italian gentleman. He sells them as PDFs and you can get print versions on LuLu.
The SOBH is only 4.95 or something crazy for a complete skirmish miniatures games. He is working on mass combat using the same system so you will see that soon.
He was at Origins this year because the rules were nominated for an Origins award for best miniatures rules.
If you really want the best of the experience, join the yahoo group.
If you ask a rules question or any question, Andrea has it answered within 24 hours. I don't know how he sleeps.
He was interviewed in a podcast somewhere (a link is on his website I think).
I will tell you what. I was looking for a rules light but playable minis game. This is it.
I have to play solo because when my gaming groups get together, they really only want to play D&D and Magic. So, minis games they don't have time or interest to play. I play SOBH solo. It was a blast. The rules mechanic is such that you have tension and suspense on every turn even playing solo.
I use my D&D pre-painted minis with the game. It can be played in any ratio. Andrea plays primarily in 15mm. D&D minis are 28-30mm, and some guys on in the Yahoo group actually play with much bigger minis and the rules work for all of them. You will be able to play with your Warhammer minis with no problem.
I have also bought his homage to Gamma World, Mutants and Death Ray Guns using pretty much the same engine with a few modifications for weaponry, which is pretty much an enjoyable Gamma World minis game. It is a blast to play solo as well.
I am telling you, this guy has put out a game that is pure genius. For five bucks, it is worth buying just for the read.
So, check out Boardgamegeek.com and Andrea's site and definitely the Yahoo group to get other opinions. You will find very and I mean very few negative takes on the game.
Did I mention you can play with all of your Warhammer minis you already own?
