Question about C&C distribution

Post by Lord Dynel »

I know someone had a similar problem with their FLGS, and I don't know how it got handled.

I called my FLGS to make sure the guy was on the ball about the soon-to-be-released goodies coming soon (CZ UW, Towers of Adventure, Star Siege, etc.). But in that conversation, I got reminded about another topic I needed to talk with the guy about.
Me: Hey , you get any C&C stuff in yet?
FLGS Manager: No. I'm waiting for the PHB to be restocked.
Me: Really? Still? I asked you about a month and a half ago!
FLGS Manager: Yeah, I know. The distributor still don't have the PHB in stock. And it would be silly of me to get a bunch of game product in and not have the core book for said system.
Me: True...

So, I'm still waiting for my FLGS to carry C&C. He told me, about 8 weeks ago, that he tried ordering some, but the PHB was out of stock. Now, weeks later, the PHB is still out of stock? I think someone is pulling someone else's chain, but I'm not sure who. I want to support my FLGS, but dang, I'm getting impatient.

Anyone know anything about this?

Call Steve monday with information about who your game shop is dealing with. He'll sort it out.

It very well could depend on which distributor the FLGS is going through -- I would contact Steve with the name of the store, the phone #, and who should be spoken to, to get this resolved more expeditiously. Some of the distributors, notably Diamond, are lax in their "doodies."

Yeah, I have heard Diamond do the distribution for the Forbidden Planet store in newcastle, and though they often have random new C&C releases, such as Engineering Dungeons and A4, I haven't seen a PHB there for nearly a year. When I asked about it, the response "Yes, it is strange..."

It is a dark conspiracy by the evil wizards....or maybe gnomes took em. I really would not put it past a mega corp to be pulling sum black ops though.

I'm pretty sure he goes through Alliance and Blackhawk. I don't know if he's gone through both of them or not - I don't know why he wouldn't have tried both, though.

And it's a little strange. I can get new releases. I've got no problems...the first new release was Engineering Dungeons, which I got no problem. It just seems to be a problem with backstock, notably the PHB, that he has problems ordering.

He can order direct and have the entire product line on his shelf in 5 days nd, we are never out of stock.

Certain distrubtors are really not that good and, from all indications, stated slighting small orders or ignoring tem altogether.

Especially Diamond and Alliance, I see them mentioned all over the internet for doing this to small publishers because of how they pay their personnel based on the volume of what they move.

Simply put, small publishers are not worth their time.

Same problem here with Alliance. Finally talked the owner into ordering through the Trolls. He seemed happy with the outcome. He still preorders through other distributors though. Go figure.

Thanks for the info, fellas. I'll pass this information along to the FLGS, and hopefully they get matters squared away.
