Could somebody Trollish tell me a little bit about the following products? Specifically, I'd like to know what they are in general...
Fields of Battle
Melee
Harvesters
Of particular interest to me is wherther the first one means that the rules for Large Scale Battle are no longer in the CKG, whether the second one will serve as a mass combat exapansion to C&C (sort of a C&C Battlesystem), and what the heck is the third about?

You can read more about The Harvesters in the Siege Engine Games forum. If you have any specific questions after that, just let me know (me be da author).

Fields of Battle -- mass combat
Melee -- board game
Harvesters -- anthropomorphic (humanoid animal) SIEGE Engine game
Since Fields of Battle will be a seperate product, does this mean that the large scale battle rules will be taken out of the CKG? And will Melee work with it or be completely seperate?
Harvester's is a Furry game. Got it. By the way, Deogulf, why is your avatar mooning me with his pants down around his ankles?
No, it does not mean that the CKG will not have mass combat within its pages, but the scope of the coverage will likely be less, or greatly simplified -- the CKG is a book of options, lots, and lots of options -- it does not cover any single subject as in-depth as a single book dedicated to that same subject would, as that is not its purpose.
Melee, as far as I know, is completely different -- think of it more like Cleaver the Pit, with a board. I also believe it is intended to work closely with C&C rules, so you can convert your tabletop characters to the Melee rules, so that would, naturally, make it compatible with any other C&C rule. But... I have not verified this statement and Melee has not been discussed (to me) in a long, long time, so who knows?

Furry game? Not in my game! The only good furry is a dead one!
The picture was supposed to be of one of the NPCs in the game. As you can see, Jim was having a little fun with it (it won't be in the module). He's a skunk...

Fields of Battle is going to be a pretty kick butt product. I got to playtest this when Casey ran it at Gen Con 07 and really liked what I saw there. He has since refined the product further and I think you'll like the outcome. There are supposed to be some mass combat rules in the CKG, but fields of battle will be its own book and rightly so.

Thanks Serl and Breakdaddy. And a curse on both of you as well for giving me another item to twist in the wind in anticipation over, you glorious bastards
So now I'm waiting for the CKG, the Castellan's Guides AND Fields of Battle.

Harvesters has been talked about often on these boards. Its a game done by John Sebel where the players develop characters which are furry animals. See the section on Siege Engine Games for details.
In short, its aimed at kids.

Well, I submitted two different versions of Melee to the Troll Lords years ago and they liked both proposals... but they are both VERY different.
The first rules set followed Steve's design goals of a Tournament Boardgame that did its best to create a playable version of Medieval Melee Tourneys... it really had very little to do with C&C, but it was a pretty cool little brawler game where you controlled your Knights, wandered a board and tried to score hits on opposing Knights. Each Knight was rated according to their Skill and their Honor... when you rolled you had to roll under your Skill to hit and you also had to roll over your opponent's Honor to score a Hit (Basically you had to roll well enough to actually hit and soundly enough that your opponent's Honor forced them to admit the hit). Some Knights had special abilities, and each player had "judges" calls where they could force an opponent to take a hit even if the Honor roll wasn't successful. In all, it was an interesting simulation of actual medeival tournaments. There was even a jousting mini-game for one or more players.
The big thing to note was this game was written BEFORE C&C was finished, so there was no C&C to base it off of.
The second version of Melee game was a dungeon-crawl style, simplified version of C&C. Each player would build an adventuring team out of the available Character Class cards. They would then enter into a tile-style maze and kill things and take their stuff. The team that exited the maze with the most stuff would win. You could even track down other players and have a PC to PC brawl. Good times....
In the end, I know the troll lords liked both, but I haven't heard much on it since over two years ago.

You've been warned, Peter!!
If a large badger with a two-handed sword shows up at your house, you might not want to call him "furry"!! He won't like that one bit!!

Aimed at kids? Heck, I guess I'm a kid again because HARVESTER seems like it is aimed towards any fan of anthropomorphism.

That sounds a bit like the old pocket game of the same name designed by Steve Jackson for Metagaming back in the late 70's. Anyone remember that? Basically each person created a character then they dueled in an arena. There was companion game called Wizard which was the same thing, but with magic duels, and the two could be used together. These led to Advanced Melee and Advanced Wizard, which spawned The Fantasy Trip rpg - the first fantasy rpg I ever tried after D&D.
Anyway, I really loved the old Melee and Wizard games, and I'd love a C&Cish version of them.
Re: New Product Descriptions...
If I knew what you were all talking about, I'd say the game being furry based doesn't necessarily make it only for kids.
Like Omaha the Cat Dancer for instance?
Which I would mention if I knew what you two were talking about.
But since I don't...
I won't....that is,...
Aww, never mind.

As soon as I saw the name Melee the Jackson game came to mind. Remember it? Oh yeah! Fun times. Not so long ago I traded a boardgame for the whole set of Melee/Wizard rules, including the various adventures that went along with them. My own copy from the glorious days of yesteryear had long since vanished. As a bonus (and a surprise), the guy I traded with included the advanced versions of the game, too.
On a whim, I recreated the Melee board out of HeroScape tiles and then utilized D&D miniatures for a 3-D version of the game. Here's a picture of the board:
So, yeah, I liked the old game with the same title, and I can't wait to get my hands on the game developed by cheeplives.

I'm kind of partial to Warriors & Warthogs, myself .
A "Secret of Nimh" feel to it (or even a "Mouse Guard" TPB series feel) would work for me...probably the only way for me, personally.
Fields of Battle and Melee sounds sounds very intriguing.
Bravo to the Trolls for filling the gap WotC left in my gaming budget!
