Meh. They still need to make this a print product so I can check it out.
Indeed! I would love to have a print version but I settled with the PDF some time ago. I still haven't heard of any plans to do this though.

I hate PDF's. The only PDF's I pick up are the TLG ones (I'm a fanboy) and the AGP ones (to hopefully support AGP and get some print copies of this stuff out there one day). I refuse to add antoher source of PDF's to my collection since I don't use them.
Well.... pick up the setting books at least. They are stat free, and you can tack on the pdf as a guide to using the setting for C&C.

Yeah, I'm not a pdf fan; I need a book to thumb through for some reason.

Cool. I didn't know the setting books were stat free. I always assumed it was a d20 setting.
Yes... the Pirate's Guide to Freeport is stat free... if you want some crunch you go there's the companion book to it... like the d20, True20, and C&C... I there was also talk of a Savage Worlds version. The Pirate's Guide to Freeport is one EXCELLENT resource.

What he said. Thats why the GR folk write all the companion books, as a guide to use for the setting. So, if you get the setting books, and the C&C companion, the GR folks know your supporting C&C.

Its a setting with no game stats in it, at its base. But the company Green Ronin, who produces it, does a series of companion books for various systems.
Go to the Green Ronin website and check it out.

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

I see that I'm late to the party, but I'm on the band wagon.
For $12, it's a solid bargin. If a few less feats and "skill checks" weren't floating around, it would be awesome.
Two quick observations:
* NPC conversions seem to be done at -1 level, single class, which occasionaly has former multiclass rogue/wizards now being CnC wizards carring swords (but with the proper spells.)
* Savings Throws are described by attribute name.
Don't like PDFs?:
It doesn't seem to be any news on the print front in the forums, but if you get the systemless guide book the NPC breakdown your looking for is 1-4, 5-8 and 9+.
I just got the PDF this week, and while it seems that the poisons have been updated (most of the gear is going into my game,) the firearm rules still reference some feats ... or does DriveThur RPG have an older version posted?
With this CnC book, I'm now probably going to get the whole Freeport series as it's a setting with an whole campaign arc already in print.

See, thats my whole hang-up on this product so far.
$12 for a computer file?
Thats crazy.
I don't mind picking up the cheap ass PDF's TLG puts out. I don't feel like I'm getting ripped off.
I keep coming back too this Freeport one but end up saying no.
Don't look like it'll see print either.
Meh.

I've been accused of being crazy a few times but before I go on about my 'insane' ideas and all, have you had a chance to flip through the Pirate's Guide to Freeport? It is a great hardcover and setting which can easily be used as it or dumped into an existing campaign world. I say check out *this* book and pick up the companion ONLY if you are ready to run a game using the setting or if borrowing a bunch of elements from the setting.
As for the price tag, if you consider it as purely supplemental material to the setting book, it's still an extra 100 pages of material to play around with. Cool new rules... new critters... new classes... and an adventure!
I would love to see a print version... but it is clear that a lot of this would hinge on the interest in the PDF version. If the PDF version ends up being below hopes and expectations, I don't see the odds of a print version of this coming out.
I've often heard of 'voting' or 'speaking' with your wallet. The way I see it, purchasing the PDF was a way of declaring that 'I play and buy C&C'.
That said, it is expensive IMO but I don't feel like I was ripped off either.
