What do you think of the zombie comic The Walking Dead? Im up to issue #51 now. Good stuff.

Im a HUGE zombie fan. Just wondering if there are others out there.

What are some good games, movies, other zombie stuff you have or heard about?

I just saw a zombie T-shirt, a rip-off of Subway. "Zombie" written like "Subway", then "Eat Flesh!" instead of "Eat Fresh!".

I could get anyone to play All Flesh Must be Eaten. There seem to be some cool Zombie games out now, like "Last Night on Earth".

Well I have to admit, I loves me some zombies!

Last night on earth is an awesome boardgame, its definitely one of my most popular board games when me and my buddies get together.

As for other games, Zombies!!! is fun for a while, but the end game tends to drag on to long. I didn't really like Zombietown much either. There are a couple of print-it-yourself zombie games that look like they have some promise though Zombie Panic and Dead of Night. I've printed out Zombie Panic and tried a solo game (playing both sides to get a feel for the rules) and it seems like fun. I'm just waiting to get a couple of guys together for a proper play.

So far I haven't found any Zombie video games that have really kept my interest for more than a week or two... Although Left 4 Dead looks like it might be fun.

And finally RPGs. I ran a GURPS Zombie game a few years back, although the group kind of fell apart before it really managed to take off
I would love to try All Flesh Must Be Eaten, but haven't had a chance to pick up the rules yet. If you decide to run a game online, sign me up **hint, hint**
As for movies, of course there are the Romero Flicks. I loved Night, Dawn and Day.. Land was OK, and Diary of the dead terrible..

as for other zombie movies, off the top of my head I would have to recomend Dead alive/Braindead (one movie, 2 names..) Zombi 2 (aka Zombie, Island of the Living Dead, Zombie Island, Zombie Flesh Eaters and Woodoo).. I also liked the Remakes of Night of the Living Dead, and Dawn of the dead. Apparently there was a remake of Day of the Dead as well, but I haven't been able to track it down. Another great zombie movie was [Rec] its a Spanish movie with subtitles, done from a 1st person perspective ((think Blair witch project, Cloverfeild, or *shudder* Diary of the dead)) but very well done!

Im sure there are a bunch of others that arent coming to me at the moment, Ill look through my dvds when I get home.

I think the whole zombie/ walking dead thing has been so overdone that the dead horse rose, died, and has been beat again...

Of course...I feel the same way about Star Wars and such too...

Try out the the very cheapass boardgame, MAUL OF AMERICA by Jolly Roger Games. It is essentially Dawn of the Dead the boardgame, not to be confused with the actually licensed Dawn of the Dead boardgame from 1978 by SPI.

...to add a plug, Dawn of the Dead by SPI was a great little boardgame that was not only fun but was the best solo boardgame I've ever run across. Its available online as .jpg files for the counters/map/rules for free if you look.

All Flesh Must Be Eaten is ok, but I'm not a huge fan of the Unisystem. Its rather White Wolf in feel, though I'll admit the Unisystem did fix the dice pool problem of Storyteller. Its great for reference though!
Zombie RPGs are fun in theory, but the big problem is how do you get character's to act "normally" for the first night of a rise? When someone wanders up acting oddly and looking injured, they KNOW they're playing a Zombie game and don't act appropriately. Think Diary of the Dead when the characters were arguing whether or not a zombie was dead or alive and just sick...while its attacking their friend.

Most times, PCs just start blasting!

Ah my good seig, I have run into that problem in Zombie RPGs a few times. In order to get around that senario, I started a zombie RPG campaign but told eveybody were were playing Ninja's & Superspies. I created a class for this campaign called the "Everday Hero OCC" (Palladium term for Character class) and told the players that their characters started out as everyday people thrown into the campaign. This went over well enough and we played 2 sessions before the first hint of the zombie apocolypse was happening. By the 4th session, all the players knew the game had turned into a Zombie RPG. Unfortunately that game only lasted a few months, but overall it went well.

This tactic would obviosuly not work for every player. I happened to know my players well and the fact the game was sold as a action, superspies RPG that turned into something completely different worked in this case. But, it totally threw the players for a loop.

True, that would fix the problem but like you said you'd have to know your players enough to know if they'd still be interested when the cat's out of the bag. Probably the best solution though....

BTW, speaking of zombie stuff one of the best fanfics for a Zombie Apocalypse I've found is Gareth Wood's "Rise" which can be read for free at:
