A Birthday Cake... What To Make?

Post by serleran »

Well, 9/11 is my fiance's birthday, which is great given her name is Katrina, so she's always being dubbed "the disaster lady." So, I'm thinking I should make something special, but don't really know what to do -- I can make a cake, a pie, whatever... but does someone have a recipe for something really out there? I mean, like something that would be fitting?

Just curious what Google Fu brings up and out.

Well, in searching, I found something called a "hurricane cake." I think I'll make that.

Some things do not need to be invented -- reality is stranger than fiction, as they say.

I prefer pies over most cakes, unless it's cheese cake or ice cream cake.

But, I say . . make a zucchini or carrot bread.

Wait, apple pie a la mode!!

Banana nut bread, yeah that's it.

[Edit: ~ I know, peach cobbler with coffee ice cream}

Happy B-day to Katrina.

I suppose what I am making is more like a torte. A little "wet" as it were. Thanks for the suggestions, though.

It made me hungry for banana-chocolate pie.

Everything should be celebrated with sweet potato pie.

Everything.

Happy Birthday to her.

As to my vote for the "cake" cheascake with Blueberry topping or my mom's limon pudding Better than ... cake (yes that is what she calls it out side of church anyway) As to how to make either, sorry I love to cook but baking is way not in my bag of tricks...
