With the 360's compatibility factor, I've tracked down three original xbox titles to enjoy on my machine so if you ever do get the newer xbox, you may still be able to play some of those games. They run through some form of emulation. It's not perfect (some games have their hiccups) but I haven't noticed any problems with the ones I've tried (these were Halo, Halo 2, and Fable).

I'd started looking into the 360 back when the rumblings of The Force Unleashed started coming out. I saw some of the demos and saw that they were only available on PS3 or 360. I'd played some games on PS2 and I always thought they were geared to a younger audience. The graphics never wowed me, and the gameplay wasn't that good (for me). I enjoyed my gamecube a lot more.

My wife got me the 360 last year for my birthday, and I love it. She just got me the newest installment in the LotR game series, and I'm antsy to open it up and get it running. I played all of those titles (in addition to BG:DA) on Gamecube, and they were a blast.

As far as a Blu-Ray goes, I'll probably not get one until either the PS3 drops significantly, or the next incarnation of the Xbox console, which will probably have one. I like the library of games for the 360, the Marketplace has a lot of nice things in it (got Portal and the original Gauntlet through it), and the fact that a lot of old Xbox games are playable on the 360 make it nice (looking for a copy of Dungeons & Dragons Heroes and a couple of others).

That's one rumor that Microsoft has been consistently denying -- the inclusion of bluray. Who can say about the 'next' console which we likely won't be seeing till at least 2011 but the fact remains that Microsoft is still very much interested in other avenues for the distribution of this sort of content. I think this is in part to recover from the losses with the production of the now defunct external HD DVD drive. On the flip side, you can now access Netflix through the X-Box Live service (though you need to get a Netflix account) and you can also rent regular and highdef movies and download them on your system. This is something that Microsoft has also been behind in terms of content distribution.

If Microsoft were to change their tune and develop an external bluray drive for their console, I'd likely revisit bluray and consider it. It would certainly be cheaper than a stand alone player and... by the time it hits the market be even more affordable.

As for classic X-Box games... yeah a nice feature to be able to still access some of these. What's interesting is you can also buy some of them through the marketplace as well!

I'd love it if they brought back Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth. With Achievements! I love Achievements. When that little sound goes off I get a special tingle .
