I'd say mine would be the Blair Witch Project. That was the first movie in a long time to really scare me. Part of it is that I live in an area that resembles that in the movie, have been in many a burned out house like that and love local legends and ghost stories. It felt like something that could happen or like an area I could stumble into.

I dunno. I don't get creeped out or anything by horror movies. Last movie that gave me a scare was Outbreak (I know, I'm weird), not exactly halloweenish.

I think The Ring was pretty good, kinda gives a creepy feel I guess. I didn't find it lame anyways.

I should add that While I liked the original Blair Witch Project I found BW2 to be substandard and not really scary. It was somewhat creepy but would have been better had 1) The directors original vision for the movie been followed 2) it had been shot in a documentary style like the first and 3) had more grounding in the mythos.

I'll go with The Shining or Dawn of the Dead...or It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown! I'm good to go after watching those.

I'm chiming in with the others who mentioned It's the Great Pumpkin, Charle Brown. Nothing on film says Halloween to me like this movie.

For great Holloween movies, I go with the standard... Holloween. The original really has it all. Creepy, violent, and damn scary. Great Holloween flick.

Got to go with Julian on the Blair Witch though, if you live in an area surrounded by lots and lots of woods (even if near urban areas), Blair Witch is pretty scary.

Horror movies don't really do much for me. But there is one thing that does get my Halloween mojo on: Orson Welles' broadcast of "War of the Worlds".

Either Lugosi's Dracula or the original Night of the Living Dead. For years, if I haven't gone out on Halloween, I've watched one of the two.

I recently watched Hellraiser, and was amazed out how well the film has aged.

Besides the old Universal classics (Dracula, Frankenstein, and The Wolfman), this year we are watching "The Howling", "Sleepy Hollow", and "The Fog" leading up to Halloween.

.... Dog Soldier's is a "horror movie that I extremely enjoy.

as for the creepiest movie in existence.... Audition.

Other than that pretty much any zombie, vampire, werewolf, and other "Supes" movie that might be creepy.

I forgot the simpsons and southpark halloween episodes

Some good old 'Universal' or 'Hammer Horror' gothic films (Dracula, Frankenstien, Wolfman, Mummy etc.), Sleepy Hollow, Nightmare Beforce Christmas, Corpse Bride (realising there's a bit of a Tim Burton vibe here), a number of pulpy Vampire films (and I have WAY to many of these!)

A great movie (IMO) that I think is underappreciated, is Tobe Hoopers Salems Lot.

It was made for TV but really, it has some great horror in it. One of the best fight scenes Ive seen is when Barlow faces the priest in Marks kitchen. Many, many classic scenes.

Great make up and sets. And I do like the cast as well. The vamps in it arent running around with gelled hair, they are pure evil, like they should be.

I need to dig up my copy of the original Night. However I will say that Night of the Living Dead was one movie that was actually pretty decent as a remake. It may be heresy to say that but I did enjoy both versions.
