Go Rays!

Post by Lord Dynel »

I'd like to take a moment to congratulate the Tampa Bay Rays on (finally) finishing the Boston Red Sox and winning the ALCS.

Good Luck in the World Series!

Isn't this a political thread?
Considering they were supposed to be merged out of existence about three years ago, good for them. Extra points for saving us from another month of stories about Red Sox fans

Definitely NOT a political thread!

I was pulling for the Rays because I can't stand the Red Sox or the Yankees. If my team couldn't be in it, I'd settle for those two teams to lose.

Some observations...

The Rays beat a team with several times their payroll. It took them many years of being the laughing stock of the league and socking away first round draft picks to do it, but yes, it is possible to defeat the big spenders.

The wildcard is wrong. The Rays spent all 162 games on top of the league and fend off the big boys through what is one of the toughest schedules in the entire Majors, and yet they still had to sit through seven games with a team that, quite simply, was inferior to them the entire year.

I'm going to root for Tampa Bay - if for no other reason than they beat the Red Sox!! I'm sick and tired of hearing about the Red Sox, Yankees, Patriots, Giants, blah, blah, blah...

It's just nice to see all the big spenders crying!

Now, if we could just get some of the other small market teams going as well - Pittsburgh, Brewers, Kansas City and others - that would be even better.

I just hope it's a well-played series with close games. I want to see the pitcher's duel vs. the slugfest (with the pitchers winning). There's still a few things wrong with baseball these days, but I still think it's the best game out there!

I'm a Braves fan, but my AL team-of-choice has always been the Red Sox. I will, however, be pulling for the Rays. A good team done good is a great story. I also got a little sick of hearing the phrase "Red Sox Nation" every other day.

After watching my White Sox get taken out, I really had no interest in the series. But for some reason I found myself watching these games and pullin for the Rays.

Bad, bad boy. I'm gonna wash your mouth out with soap. Then straight to your room, no dinner.

Oh, and I'll be taking your Dungeon & Dragons books away.

Yep, congrats to the Rays. I'm glad to see a new team in the WS.

I was glad the BoSox had their chance but it's time for someone else to get theirs.

I usually like to see underdogs or small market/small cities get into the WS.

Heh, like the Chicago Cubs!
Loads of money and a huge market haven't done much for them except disappoint a load of people.

And I suppose the chance of a "city" or "subway" series between the White Sox and the Cubs is astronomical.
Anyway, 2 fine teams - should be a great WS.

Well, i still like the Red Sox. Boston is my favorite city, and i love how much the team is a part of the city.

But, i do like the `little guy' making it to the Series- i like the scrapiness they've showed throughout the season.

So either way, i was ok with it. I think either team, Sox or Rays, would/will beat the Phils.

Lifelong Reds fan here (grew up in Cincy)... but since they aren't in it and I live in Central Florida, I'm pulling for the Rays.

Time to see how the Rays perform against a team with actually good pitchers.

Oooh, I think they might be playing tonight (after some rain delays)!!

Should be an excellent game. Both teams have shown what they can do. Now who can do it better??

Things don't be lookin' good for the Rays! They're going to have a fun time with Hamels tonight! Then, again, Mr. Hamels has been known to come out flat from time-to-time. However, he's been "lights out" in the Playoffs and World Series.

Maybe next year, Rays!

Great...now we hear fromt he peanut gallery, now that the Rays are down 3-1.
Yeah, it's looking bleak, but I still got to take my hats off to the scrappy Rays. I don't want to sound defeatist, and there's still a chance...however slim.

I'm rooting for the Phillies, but you may have already guessed that from a prior post.
Anyways, I'm glad the Rays beat the Sox.

How right you are, my friend.

Of course this is some Grade A Bull%&#@ that they call the game after the Rays survive Kazmir's near-collapse and tie things up. I hope this give the Rays some confidence.

Confidence, they certainly showed it. They did well.

The Phillies just did a bit more.

They finally "believed" in themselves, their fans, and the spirit that makes baseball such a great game!

Congratulations, World Series Champions: Philadelphia Phillies!!!

Congrats to the Phils! Let the joyous rioting in Philly begin!

Congrats to the Rays as well, for beating the BoSox and going from worst to first (AL).

Yes, congratulations are in order to the Philadephia Phillies. In the end, they were the better team.

I also want to congratulate the Tampa Bay Rays. They were, by far, the mosy improved team in baseball this year. They should be destined for great things!

I'd say the Rays are one of the most improved teams in history, considering where they were last year.

But still, PHILLIES WIN!!!!
