Movie Help!

I'm trying to remember the name of a really bad slasher/horror movie I saw a few years ago. I'm guessing it was done in the 80's but I really have no idea.
Basically, a group of role-players decide to play a live action version at their local high school after hours. Blah, blah, bad acting, people are killed and it turns out one of the group (the GM I think) is actually trying to summon Anubis (I believe he was a reincarnation of Imhotep or something). The movie was characterized by really bad action, the longest goofiest shower scene (with a guy no less) I've ever laid eyes on in a movie and lots of mispronounced names.
Any ideas?

Wow. I haven't seen any movie like that, but after some Googling I found a movie called Ancient Evil 2, which sounds like something you'd be looking for, but it was made in 2005.
Check out this thread, which lists movies that have RPG references. Let me know which movie you were talking about, as I am curious!

I was thinking the movie was Mazes & Monsters- but after rereading your post- it's not.

Perhaps you might be thinking of Evilspeak?

Even if it's not Mazes and Monsters, you need to check that one out. It's one of Tom Hanks' first big roles. Just before, or during the time he was on Bosom Buddies. I saw that on tv, and God knows it was yet another source of information for people who were already fearful of Dungeons and Dragons. Ah yes, the old pop culture inquisition of the 1950's, 60's, 70's, and 80's. Getting back on point, that tv movie can sometimes be found on DVD for 5.00. Had to have it. The trade towers were featured prominently in the film(Hanks' character believed they were the Two Towers, I think). Damn. I'll have to watch that slab of cheese again to find out.

After that movie, I just had to start making maps of my city, going so far as to get copies of public survey/sewer map information...just to freak my parents and teachers out. Oh, yes. Much hilarity followed...
As for the movie, was it "Evilspeak" ?

Thanks much for all your help, but I'm afraid we have no winner as of yet. lol I have seen Mazes and Monsters and it was great, but not what I'm looking for.
I've never seen Evilspeak but I am sure that's not it either. I'm also sorry to say I don't know who was in the movie or what else they might have been in (I doubt anything to be honest).
All I remember is the bucket load of laughs we had watching this "horror" movie because it was so bad. The shower scene has some terrible actor strutting all these awful posses in the school gym shower while the killer takes what feels like 15 minutes to RUN across the shower and stab him (the wound and the scream were even worse).
But the final scene takes the cake...when the GM reveals that he is actually Imhotep (his spirit or returned from the dead, etc) which, by the way, was said something like I'm-hot-eep. He also reveals that he's trying to summon the "dark god Anubis" but that comes out sounding like And-you-bus.
Anyway, the movie was terrible, but it was great for a laugh which is why I'm trying to find it again. lol

Sorry, no winner with The Mummy either. I'm almost 100% that it was a bad 80's slasher movie. I hate getting old. lol
