What's at Your Table?

Post by DangerDwarf »

I know we're all C&C fans here; but because of our groups, we don't always get to play the game we like best. So, I'm curious as to what game you actually play most with your group (not what you'd like to play most).

2nd Edition probably wins out with us by a narrow margin.

We alternate games, depending on who is running. We've been playing C&C for a while, but I'm hankering to play some Shadowrun, so that's a possibility. Before that, we did some Gamma World / Ruins and Radiation. We don't play different versions of D&D, since there is little reason to, but we do play entirely different games. Sometimes.

An admixture of editions and house rules that vary from group to group. In short, the same way I've been doing it for 30 years now. ^_^

Huh? I'm the only C&C vote so far? It's all I'm running or need to run with my group.

The dynamics of the group I play with, unfortuantely, do not vary much off of the accursed 3E. We play C&C from time to time, but all ofter editions of D&D have fallen off completely. There are a few other games we play regularly, but they are not within the confined of this topic.

Pendragon is the game that I play most often with my various gaming groups. I play it twice a month with my weekday group and will be starting up a weekend game with another group.

I tried to get both groups to play C&C but people tend to see C&C as a half-baked, stripped-down version of 3rd edition. No matter how hard I try to sell it (and I have) I can't get people interested. It's pretty frustrating!

C&C, but when the current "story arc" wraps up for my family game we will be starting up a SR4 game for a while. We often do L5R pick up games too.

I voted Other, as we have probably played more WFRP and Savage Worlds than most other games. We just recently finished a Mongoose Runequest game, and we have the occasional one-shot of CoC. Right now we are playing C&C again, set in Mystara/Known World's Emirates of Ylaruam.

C&C here. Or at least my C&C which is the PH, M&T, The '80 Greyhawk Folio, Yggsburgh and the blue binder that I call the 'playbook'. The playbook has my houserules, created monsters and campaign notes. Touching the playbook is a serious offense and can result in broken fingers, dead PC's or worse.

I only play C&C at *my* table. I've just started playing a 3.5eque game at someone else's table which has taken some crunch out in favor of certain C&Cisms.

It's a work in progress but I'm enjoying the game more than I would a standard 3.5 game.

Hmmm. You posting these C&Cisms your DM is doing for others to consider anywhere? Like in your link?

C&C for me. I have one more session of d20 SWRPG to finish off but after that it'll be all C&C, all the time. I think I've finally won over my group and got them away from 3.x. I know they're a little uncomfortable not having rules for freaking everything, feats, and hardcoded skills but I keep telling them they'll be okay. Sad thing is they freaking played 2nd edition, so they should be used to D&D (or D&Desque games) without all the d20 stuff. I think they've just gotten a little lazy.

It's the only thing my group plays. Though I'm trying to subvert a couple of them over to wargaming...

We were doing an AD&D/C&C mix, but the new campaign we started last week is pure C&C.

I put other.

Right at the moment I'm "between games" unless you count the odd card/board game.

Primarily a number of "plot points" with the Savage Worlds rpg. Afterwards, we've been playing a little bit of C&C's "The Rising Knight". Those are my systems of choice as of late. I suspect I'll be playing a lot of the new jumbo Axis and Allies board game(due out Nov. 18).

I'd love to have the new A&A set. But, nobody near me plays A&A so it's moot.

Since all of my gaming is done via SKYPE now, it is C&C. If I could ever get the old group back together for some gaming, I'd be tempted to play AD&D 2E.

I'm prepping for a new C&C campaign, but there's also going to be a Bronze Age campaign of Epic Roleplaying, which is different in flavor from C&C or D&D, but is a tremendous amount of fun.

Our last campaign season was using a heavily, heavily, streamlined and houseruled (and by the end, halfway recognizable) Rolemaster FRP/SS system. I'm really happy to get back to something a little lighter and easier on the GM/CK (and easier for character generation! Great googly moogly!).

I've been trying to convince Mrs. Grimm to try OD&D but she just can't give in. I'll get her sooner or later. But there is much love for OD&D here!

Well not OD&D per se for my table, but I do get the opportunity to run Basic D&D from time to time that I love doing, but not enough to be #1. I *wish* C&C was #1 on my list, but alas it cannot be at this time.
