Top 10 geeks of all time

Post by angelius »

Hi everyone,

I'm currently writing an article for a new project of mine and I was wondering who you guys think is the top 10 geeks of all time.

The top 10 should be either geeks who have influenced pop culture, been successful financially or by any other criteria... some examples:

Bill Gates - billionaire

Gary Gygax - influence

John Carmack - First Person Shooters

It can cross industries etc..... post away!

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Bill Gates - Co-Founder Microsoft

John Carmack - Co-Founder id Software

Gary Gygax - Creator, Dungeons and Dragons and Co-Founder TSR.

Stephen Hawking - Author, A Brief History of Time. Theoretical Physicist.

Stan Lee - Comic Book writer and President, Marvel Comics.

*chuckles* Actually, one of the accomplishments that Gary said he was most proud of, was winning the "#1 Nerd in the World" vote. There was a top 50 list. All of Japan was #8 I believe.

Are we using the alternate definition of geek, which is to kill? If so, the list would probably be a little different, maybe. I still think Gary Gygax would be on it, with that "killer DM" thing he had going on...

You're expecting Steve to be able to spell something correctly?

Now that's a good point! That's of course you assume that I want to spell something.

I made my epic I DON'T GIVE A CRAP check years ago! LOL

My life ambition is a porch, rocking chair, pair of overalls, can of pork in beans, lawn with at least 300 yard lead, marked for range and a series of rifles/shotguns and pistols...starting with a 30.06 and ending in a single action colt .45. Once there, I'll look out for revenuers!

LOL!!

It would really be cool, if hudsOn actually speaks Klingon!!

Hmmm, how about speaking Aihrde dwarven? Anyone besides the Trolls who could do it would be major geek, IMO and thus deserving of some serious respect!!
