Rollin' the Dice into '09

Post by DangerDwarf »

The later part of '08 saw an increase in my work load on the job, some added obligations in my home life and a general tightening the belt on spending overall. So, my time with my favorite hobby of course suffered (I haven't been able to run a game in like 2 months now!).

With the start of '09, things are starting to settle down some and come mid January, things should be mostly on track for me again. I'm going to have less time to spend on gaming than before, but I'm still going to be able to squeeze it in.

I've never been a "One system guy", always enjoying purchasing and playing a multitude of systems. But, with the added time crunch these days I've had to sit down and rethink my focus on gaming. So, with less time and lesser disposable income, I decided I'd narrow my gaming time and purchases down a bit.

Thankfully it wasn't a difficult choice on what company would be getting my continued support. Hell, I'm a TLG fanboy.

So, with a crunch on time and money, this house will keep the Crusade going for damn sure. With the product lineup coming, looks like I'll be a happy gamer to boot.

Keep it up Trolls, your kickassedness is appreciated.

Glad to hear everything should be back in line for you soon. There does appear to be a lot of good stuff coming down the pipe for 2009 and I, too, am looking forward to seeing all of the new lineup taking shape.

2009 appears to be a better Troll year than 2008, which is a good thing. Congrats, DD, on being able to play more. That's vital to a gamer, I think... or it turns you into me.

If you aren't getting enough game time then I say PLAY MORE. If you don't have time for gaming then (I would) make time. A guys gotta have hobbies. I like boardgaming and RPGs and would not trade in my gaming time under normal circumstances. Exceptions exist, of course.

Agreed. Find a way to make more game time. Trying to find players and a gaming group, even if it's an old gaming group takes time, and seems like work. But the payoff is worth it. Devote time trying to create a group. PLAY MOAR. Good luck DD.

Total lack of gaming outside of my family in my area is what got me into gaming on line 3 years ago, and I'm darn glad it did. My gaming hasn't been this good since I was young, single, childless, and could do whatever I wanted outside of work.

Unfortunately Serl works on the internet all day/night, so online gaming smacks too much of the work environment for him.

Still, I get in plenty of gaming, even over the holidays. Gamed last night, will again tonight, possibly tomorrow, and likely Sunday as well.

I haven't really got into any onling gaming, yet, but the possibility intrigues me.

Good to hear you've chose TLG as your game of choice, DD. I've narrowed my focus somewhat, too, focusing on GURPS and C&C. I've been trying to pick up old TSR stuff in a vain attampt to recollect my old collection, but that is super-slow going. Glad to also hear that your getting some time to game. As others said, if you can always try to make time for your hobby (whether it's gaming or whatever). I've always been able to, thank the gods, even now with three kids (and an understanding wife). It kep me off the streets when I was a kid, or so my mom would say, and it's kept me out of worse things as an adult.

Good to hear. I'm hoping more time comes up for me with the hobby. But if I can't do C&C I play my PC TOEE or my Gamecube (No Wii yet ) or I do something like design and adventure or work on my FDG models. Yer right, guys got to have a hobby.

I hear ya dude. After many failed starts at a regular gaming group I will be joining a regular, bi-weekly C&C group about 15 minutes from my house on the 13th. The CK and one of the players whom I've met seem pretty cool, and hopefully we can trade off on running stuff as I'd like to run some Deadlands: Reloaded since I picked up Savage Worlds a couple of months ago. Some CoC would be nice. Oh and there's Federation Commander and Star Fleet Battles. Wait, what about d6 Star Wars.... Regular gaming is going to be nice!
