Can't Wait

Post by DangerDwarf »

After two-months of not being able to squeeze in any gaming it finally will come to an end this weekend.

This evening will be delicious BBQ, plentiful beer drinking and games of dominoes as me and my wife kick everyone's ass into the wee hours of the morning. This will be followed by a C&C marathon session tomorrow.

The characters are made, the meat is defrosting, the booze are stockpiled, and adventure awaits.

Alea Iacta Est!

I wish you worked in my state, at one of the two prisons near me.

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

To be truthful, I'd actually love to live in Arizona. I miss the desert and my allergies kick my ass in a major way out here. But, Texas knows how to keep me. They give me a free house.

You mean to keep? Or only as long as you work for them?

As long as I work for them. No rent, about $30 a month for utilities (even keeping the AC set on "Meatlocker") and they do all the maintenance. The neighborhood is on state property (my unit is only a mile down the road) and all of us living here are some sort of ranking official in the system. Its a pretty sweet deal.

Heck, they got to give us something though, otherwise no one would want to be a lieutenant. Between the insane hours (with no overtime paid) and extremely demanding duties, even the directors down in Huntsville admit we have the toughest job in the agency.

Damn. That is a sweet deal but the trade off is a bit tough. Of course that's my opinion.

Anyway, you get to BBQ in January? It's like 20 degrees and snowing here. I'd call you a name but then you wouldn't eat some BBQ for me.

Heck, its in the 60's here, and I am at over 4,000 feet above sea level.

I hope to finally buy my dream barbecue over the next few months. That baby is so big it cooks the cook along with the food. So you would likely prefer to do your barbecue during the winter.

The housing is a real sweet deal. Especially them doing all the maintenance with you doing all that over time. The only time you might regret it is when you go to retire and have a 30 year mortgage to look forward to at that time. Still, the trade off sounds worth it in your situation.

Especially if it allows you to save $1500/month towards your home when you do retire. Pay for it in cash. That would be sweet. If you did that for 30 more years that would be a $540,000 home.

So what do you actually do for a living?
